Write That Down! The Tumultuous Year of 1972

On March 6, 1972, Antonio Inoki, who had just led a small insurrection and JWA, would wrestle “The God of Pro Wrestling” Karl Gotch in NJPW’s first-ever live event. Shohei “Giant” Baba would then pull out from the crumbling JWA promotion later in the year, too, opting to form his own company, All Japan Pro Wrestling, which would hold its first show on October 21, 1972. For this week’s Write That Down!, Fumi and Justin focused primarily on the tumultuous year of 1972 and why it’s historic when it comes to Japanese pro wrestling.
