Fumi Saito & Justin Knipper kicked off their series on the one and only, very special, very unique Riki Choshu, Japan’s first “cool heel” superstar. The two first went over the struggles of Choshu growing up Korean-Japanese, then later his amateur wrestling success at the high school & college level and at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Later, Saito & Knipper discussed Choshu’s overseas excursions to Germany, Florida, & Canada, his interactions with Karl Gotch, his “pipe bomb” on Tatsumi Fujinami in 1981 and their famous series of matches, the origins of the Riki Lariat, the beginning of JWP and much more.
