TW: sexual abuse
On Tuesday, Janel Grant's attorneys submitted a new legal filing against Dr. Carlon Colker and Peak Wellness in a Connecticut state court. According to Grant's team, Colker, who is the owner of Peak Wellness, was on Vince McMahon's payroll.
According to today's filing, McMahon sent Grant to Colker's facility more than 60 times between 2019 and 2022 due to suffering symptoms of "severe stress and trauma due to her abuse." It also alleges that she was coerced by McMahon to schedule appointments at the facility.
The filing alleges that a physical therapist employed at Peak Wellness sexually abused Grant. That employee is alleged to have "joined McMahon in the repeated sexual abuse of Ms. Grant, including one instance in which McMahon defecated on Ms. Grant’s head and forced her to continue engaging in a sexual act with the Peak Wellness employee."
The filing also alleges that Colker repeatedly medicated her with unknown substances, including intravenously. Her teams wishes to compel Grant's full electronic medical records, billing records, and messages between Colker and McMahon in regards to her.
Last July, Grant's attorneys filed a bill of discovery request to obtain the medical and billing records along with all messages between McMahon and Colker after they failed to do so at Grant's request. McMahon and Colker tried to block this filing. McMahon's attempt was denied by the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut in August.
In the latest filing, Grant has requested eight categories of records from Peak Wellness, including:
-
Ms. Grant’s electronic medical records, including all associated metadata;
-
Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness’ record-keeping and billing procedures;
-
Payment records relating to Ms. Grant;
-
Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness’ payment arrangements with McMahon and/or WWE;
-
The purpose of Ms. Grant’s prescribed treatments;
-
The substance of Ms. Grant’s prescribed treatments;
-
Any communications between Dr. Colker and McMahon relating to Ms. Grant; and
-
Dr. Colker’s involvement in recommending Ms. Grant’s attorney for negotiation of the purported non-disclosure agreement.
During today's press conference, Grant's attorney Ann Callis was asked if it is plausible that Colker was involved in assisting with sex trafficking Grant. Callis said that they don't know at the time because the records are incomplete. They are pursuing all of the information requested to get as much information as possible.
