Bullet Club dominates as Super Junior Tag League rolls on

Bullet Club dominates as Super Junior Tag League rolls on

With two matches to go in each block for each team, the stakes are raised in the Super Junior Tag League tournament. Last week, we discussed the favorites, dark horses and “better luck next time” teams in each block, so let’s see where the teams stand.

A Block

Our favorites in this block were TMDK’s Robbie Eagles/Kosei Fujita & Bullet Club War Dogs, Clark Connors & Drilla Maloney. After three matches each, Bullet Club is undefeated in A block, with matches against Taguchi/Dragon Dia & Los Ingernobles de Japon's Hiromu Takahashi/Bushi left for the War Dogs. TMDK has four points, with one loss to the War Dogs. For TMDK to prevail in winning the block, War Dogs can't win either of their final matches, because TMDK doesn't have the tiebreaker if War Dogs reach past eight points.

The dark horses of LIJ and House of Torture are indeed dark horses. It looks dire for LIJ with only two points, while HoT could win the block if they win the remainder of their matches, and War Dogs still don’t reach eight, as the HoT holds the tiebreaker.

Our better luck next time category is indeed the truth for Ryusuke Taguchi/Dragon Dia and Capitán Suicida/Tiger Mask as between the two teams, they have only one win. However, there is a possibility for either of these teams to play spoiler for TMDK or The War Dogs on the final two nights of competition.

B Block

Our favorites in this block were The Intergalactic Jet Setters Kevin Knight/Kushida and Catch 2/2’s TJP/Francesco Akira. In a much tighter race, Kushida/Knight have four points with matches against The Velocities and YOH/Rocky Romero left, with a tiebreaker loss to Catch 2/2. Akira and TJP have a win over the Jet Setters, but that is their only win. The pair will need to defeat Ishimori/Robbie X and YOH/Rocky Romero with a bit of luck from other teams to squeeze through.

Our dark horses in this block were YOH/Rocky Romero and Ishimori/Robbie X. Both teams are currently in control with four points each. YOH and Rocky must not lose against The Jet Setters or DKC/Ninja Mack because if they don't reach six points, they will be eliminated. The same goes for Bullet Club in the B block, as Ishimori/X must defeat Catch 2/2 or risk elimination themselves as well as defend against The Velocities

Better luck next time for The Velocities, who scored an upset win over Catch 2/2 that shook up block action. They will need to play spoiler for Ishimori/X and The Jet Setters if the team wants maximum impact in this tournament. As for DKC/Ninja Mack, one loss seals their fate this year and their opponents left are Catch 2/2 and YOH/Romero.
