It's five years since the first AEW Double or Nothing from the MGM and they're back at the MGM.
Before the show started, they announced that the winners of The Owen Cup will get title shots at All In.
Will Ospreay Vs. Roderick Strong
The match started with Will interupting the Undisputed Kingdom's pose down in the ring. Early in the match, the referee was busy with Roddy and Matt Taven and Mike Bennett tried to give Ospreay a Doomsday Device on the outside. Ospreay nearly landed on his head. It wasn't clean.
At another point in the match, the referee (Bryce Rembsburg) broke up Wardlow interfering by tossing Ospreay aside. The interference was not smart and too much at this point. But once they got it out of the way, they started cooking.
Don Callis told Ospreay to hit the Tiger Driver move that he "hurt" Bryan Danielson with and swore that he wouldn't do. He teased doing it but couldn't pull the trigger which allowed Strong to reverse him and get a near fall. Ospreay hit the Stormbreaker to win.
Winner: Will Ospreay
Adam Cole came out which was just the clue that MJF was here. MJF hugged him and then kicked him in the nuts before giving him a brainbuster.
MJF said that he's the best wrestler in the world. He said no more bullshit. He's driven by hate. He showed an AEW tattoo. He said he's the wolf of wrestling.
Death Triangle Vs. Bang Bang Gang
This was a really strong back and forth match. The Gunns bumped for the babyfaces nicely while Jay White stayed strong. But there was something lacking throughout, which made sense at the end with Juice Robinson made his come back and helped Jay White beat PAC to win the match.
Winner: Death Triangle
Serena Deeb Vs. Toni Storm
Deeb outwrestled Storm using an abdominal stretch, which Storm got out of by grabbing the rope with her teeth. The idea of Deeb outwrestling her and slowing down the match didn't really work. There were missed spots and they were on different pages at points. There was a tease of Mariah May trying to get Luther to throw in the towel but he wouldn't.
Toni went outside and thought Luther wanted to throw in the towel and got upset and threw the towel into the crowd. She hit the Storm Zero and Deeb kicked out at two.
Deeb took over and the Deebtox on the apron and then again in the ring and Storm kicked out. Storm then hit the Storm Zero from the middle rope and then again in the middle of the ring to win the match.
Winner: Toni Storm
Trent Vs. Orange Cassidy
Cassidy came out to his old AEW music. The match was really about the post-match story. Cassidy won again with a smart wrestling move which made Trent question himself. Renee tried interviewing him after the match and he said he wasn't going to talk to her. Rocky Romero tried to cheer him up and he pushed him off.
Winner: Orange Cassidy
Hook Vs. Katsuyori Shibata Vs. Chris Jericho
This match was a mess from word go. Jericho brought out dice early and spilled them all over the mat. They traded taking suplexes on the dice. Jericho was suplexed on his neck early and had to roll out of the ring and get checked on. There were a bunch of spots that took forever to get going including Shibata trying to suplex Hook off the top rope and onto a table Jericho was laying on.
Big Bill came out and Hook suplexed him through a table on the outside and the legs of the table nearly impaled Bill. It was the closest of calls.
A masked man came into the ring and hit a senton on Shibata who had a trash can surrounding him. Jericho then hit Hook with the Judas Effect and pinned Shibata to win the match.
Winner: Chris Jericho
Konosuke Taskeshita Vs. Jon Moxley
Moxley came out with his arm bandaged up after getting Pillmanized on Collision. It was a bullseye for Takeshita to attack. Match was very methodical. Mox would get a little bit of a gutsy comeback and then Takeshita would eat him up again.
Takeshita gave him the Last Ride and ripped Mox's pants on the back. We almost had a problem. Takeshita hit a combo move that ended with a Alabama Slam type suplex. He went for the knee, but Mox turned it into a DDT.
Takeshita finally hit his knee and Mox kicked out at two. Takeshita gave him the Death Rider for a two count. He went to grab chairs outside the ring. He tossed one in and as he got back into the ring, Moxley hit him with a Curb Stomp onto the chair. Then he hit the Death Rider to win.
Winner: Jon Moxley
Malakai Black Vs. Adam Copeland
Black was cut wide open right from the get go. Copeland was soon a bloody mess as well. There was barbed wire and tables directly in the ring so it was nothing but plunder, but very well done.
They set up a spot where Copeland put Black on a table and wrapped barbed wire around him to keep him on the table. He went to the top of the cage to do an elbow drop through the table, but he didn't fully commit and ended up landing on his feet. Black hit him with the Black Mass for a two count.
Black grabbed a tripod and stabbed the canvas. He kicked Copeland through the door of the cage. Buddy Matthews and Brody King came out and teased attacking Black and then beat up Copeland. They threw him back inside the cage. They wrapped barbed wire around his head and teased kicking his head off. Gangrel came out through the ring from the spot in the canvas that Black stabbed earlier. Copeland put Black in a crossface with the barbed wire and he passed out.
Winner: Adam Copeland
Don Callis said he's going to present a contract to Orange Cassidy at AEW Dynamite.
Mercedes Mone Vs. Willow
This is the first of our triple main event.
These women are bringing it. Willow is the best babyface in AEW. They started the match a little too fast and it was sloppy, but they slowed down it down and told a really good story. Mercedes wore Willow down by attacking the leg. Willow powered back but was selling her leg, even in hitting a fisherman's suplex.
Mercedes set up a stomp but missed and had to sell her foot. They went to the outside and Mercedes pushed Kris Statlander. Stalander and Stokely went to the apron and Willow hit her powerbomb and had Mercedes pinned, but the referee was tied up. They were sent to the back. Mercedes hit the Mone Maker for the pinfall.
Winner: Mercedes Mone
Kris Statlander pushed Stokely and then walked out with Willow and then turned on Willow. She clotheslined her and took her bracelet.
Christian Vs. Swerve Strickland
This match is struggling with the live crowd because no one thinks Christian can win. The match was still good, just a bit uninspired.
Crowd picked up a bit when Mama Wayne got Prince Nana kicked out of the match. Killswitch and Nick attacked Swerve while the ref was with Christian. Killswitch was supposed to head butt Swerve, but hit Christian instead. Christian still hit Swerve with a spear for a two count.
The referee then threw out Mama Wayne, Killswitch, and Nick. Somehow, NIck came back and hit a cutter on Swerve. Christian hit the Killswitch for a two count. Nana came back with a pipe and rank Nick through the crowd.
Outside on the table, Swerve jumped into a stomp on the table on the outside. Christian went for a spear and Swerve hit his jumping side kick. Then he went to the top and hit the stomp. Then he hit his kick again.
Winner: Swerve Strickland
Floyd Mayweather, the king of MGM dapped up with Swerve after the match was over.
The Elite Vs. Team AEW
At the beginning of the match, they played Darby Allin's music on loop. Matt Jackson asked for them to cut it and play his music. Then Bryan Danielson asked that they cut it and Final Countdown started to play.
At this point, I'm just going to list some of the crazier things that happen during the match.
- Darby Allin did a trust fall from the top of archway
- Jack Perry and Darby fought in the parking garage and Darby tried to drown him in ice water
- Perry drove a UPS truck seemingly to run over Darby and knocked himself out in the accident
- The Bucks did a TK/Meltzer driver on Danielson onto the poker chips
- Nick Jackson did a senton from the top of the entrance tunnel onto Dax
- Jack Perry grabbed Tony Khan and brought him to the stage but Darby Allin hit him up with a flame thrower
- Darby did the coffin drop onto Okada for a two count
- Okada hit Cash with a clothesline after draping a sleeve in thumbtacks
- Okada pulled out Reebok Pumps with thumbtacks on the bottom and they pulled Darby up on a hook and pulley upside down and they superkicked him in the face
- Danielson got one of the shoes and used it to attack the Bucks
- Danielson hit Nick with the knee and a chair but it was broken up
- Jack Perry hit Danielson with a knee to win the match
Winner: The Elite
