Even though pretty much any UFC card is going to be more important than Strikeforce card, I’m more intrigued with this card, simply because of the Paul Daley vs. Steve Smith fight.
1. Ovince Saint Preux vs. Benji Radach
Why is Radach fighting at 205? Mauro Ranello just told us that he doesn’t think Radach is healthy, he took the fight on short notice, and he decided to fight at this weight to not get lost in the shuffle.
Predictably, Radach was worked by the much bigger Saint Preux. Saint Preux sat on his back and was just raining down punches to the side of his head. Incredibly, Radach survived, but it wasn’t pretty at all.
Saint Preux threw a nasty uppercut that knocked Radach backward. He then went right back to his game of sitting on his back and raining down punches. Radach survived again.
Third round was a bit weird. Radach got some shots in, but Saint Preux got the best of it again. But neither guy really went for the finish so they ended up very much like the first two rounds.
Winner: Ovince Saint Preux by way of unanimous decision
2. Mike Kyle vs. Antonio Silva
This fight is intriguing because Kyle is so game, but I just wonder if Silva is too big. Kyle’s basically a blown-up light heavyweight.
Kyle opened up with a quick right hand that landed, and then he nailed Silva with another that buckled him. Kyle went to the ground and tried to finish, but it didn’t happen. Silva is hurt, but definitely has his wits about him and is defending on the ground.
To show the weight difference, all Silva had to do was basically fall on top of Kyle and he was able to take him down. Silva has decided to use his jiu-jitsu game, rather than stand with him. Silva sunk an anaconda choke in, but Kyle got out of it. I thought it was done. Then Silva switched over to the mount and just started throwing nasty shots from up top and ended it.
Winner: Antonio Silva by way of 2nd round TKO
3. Matt Linland vs. Robbie Lawler
Lawler has an epic beard going on.
