UFC 162 – Anderson Silva Vs. Chris Weidman Play By Play
None of the FGB crew bought the Weidman hype and picked him to upset Anderson Silva. We all had Anderson Silva winning and by stoppage.
While the undercard isn’t box office, there are some very fun fights on paper. But the Silva/Weidman fight is what everyone is looking forward to most.

UFC On Fuel 4: Chris Weidman Vs. Mark Munoz Play By Play
Just a few days after the biggest fight of the summer is a middle of the road card coming out of my backyard. UFC on Fuel 4 is at the Shark Tank and I’m not there. Why? Because it’s a Wednesday and people who live in the Silicon Valley work until 6 or 7PM. And also, I’m hesitant to pay good money for a show that’s low on interest and star power. And also, also, I have Fuel so I get to watch it for free (or 1/500th of my cable bill).
That being said, the main event should be good stuff.
1. Anthony Njokuani vs. Rafael Dos Anjos
Dos Anjos connected with a left that put Njokuani on the floor and he also had two takedowns in the round, though Njokuani did a great job getting up immediately.
Dos Anjos succeed twice more in getting Njokuani down including a big slam late in the second. Njokuani is clearly the better striker, but Dos Anjos is moving in and out, not letting Njokuani to really let anything go.
Njokuani could never really get off. Dos Anjos took him down 6 times in all and he’s going to win an easy decision.
Winner: Rafael Dos Anjos by way of unanimous decision
2. Vaughn Lee vs. TJ Dillashaw
Lee threw a kick, Dillashaw caught his leg and did something between a suplex and a fallaway body slam. Lee was stunned and Dillashaw took him down again. Dillashaw jumped on top of his back and sunk in a rear naked choke for the win.
Winner: TJ Dillashaw by way of 1st round submission

UFC On Fox 2 Preview – Phil Davis Vs. Rashad Evans
The second UFC on Fox doesn’t have the same promotion as the first. So while it may not be the same ratings juggernaut that the first was, it should still be a fun night of fights. An injury to Mark Munoz has given us the fight many expected to see in the first place when Michael Bisping takes on Chael Sonnen. And in the main event, Rashad Evans faces Phil Davis.
The FGB crew along with friend of the site JP and Stevie J from Angrymarks, have predictions for the the top two fights of this show.
Michael Bisping vs. Chael Sonnen
Duan: Refuses to predict Sonnen fights on principle
Stevie: Sonnen by 2nd round TKO

I’m not in the camp that thinks Michael Bisping has no chance – in fact I believe his takedown defense is probably underrated – but there’s no chance he’s on Sonnen’s level and Sonnen’s level is often called “Olympic” by those in the know. On a good day he might stuff a takedown or 2, but not 9 or 10, and much like Anderson Silva he’ll be taken down with ease. A lucky punch is his only hope.

This fight has been robbed of its rightful place in trash talk history. Given a full 8-10 weeks of prep, these two could have provided some classic quotes and soundbites for fans to repeat infinitely online. Instead an injury to Mark Munoz created this fight and the two middleweights have been borderline respective of each other. As for the fight itself, the outcome seems very predictable: Bisping will have three rounds to try and triangle choke Sonnen or otherwise eat ground and pound for 15 minutes. Bisping doesn’t have the power to stop Sonnen so his only hope is to try and catch a submission while fighting off his back. He won’t. Sonnen wins and Sonnen-Silva II is lined up for this summer.
The UFC On Fox 2 Main Event Is …
Not going to be as big of a deal as the very first UFC On Fox show that’s for sure. It’s the oft-delayed Sugar Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis fight. The second fight is rumored to be Chael Sonnen vs. Mark Munoz. Both fights offer small payoff and could endanger much bigger fights.
If Rashad Evans beats Phil Davis, he’ll face the winner of Lyoto Machida vs. Jon Jones. The biggest fight possible is the Jones/Evans fight, but even if Machida wins, a rematch with Evans is at the very least, intriguing. Davis isn’t yet capable of being a difference in a main event PPV fight, and if he upsets Evans, he’d be on the top list of contenders at light heavyweight.
But even worse is the Sonnen vs. Munoz fight. While Sonnen will more than likely be a heavy favorite, Mark Munoz can wrestle and might be the better overall striker. And the very least, he hits harder than Sonnen. If Munoz wins, he may go up the ladder a bit in the middleweight division, but he might be lesser known to casual fans than Phil Davis.
On one hand, it will give Davis and Munoz a chance to be on a big stage. They’ll never have been on a bigger stage before. So that might lessen the blow to the UFC if they do upset their competitors.
But it’s odd that the UFC, who is generally good at booking their main events, would risk two huge fights. Going from Jones vs. Evans to Jones vs. Davis is probably worth at least 500,000 buys. The underlying story here to me is that with so many new shows on Fox, FX, and Fuel, this is going to happen much more in the upcoming years. And add to it the risk of injury to so many fighters, I think they’re going to struggle to come up with watchable and smart main events for these shows.
The Aftermath – UFC 137 And UFC 138
I know I’m late to the game in getting these up, but I wanted to share the feedback from the past two UFC events before UFC 139.

The only thing that kept this show’s head above water was a spectacular main event, but what a main event it was. For two and a half hour’s we got a mixture of the average and the dull, but by the end of Diaz/Penn that was all forgotten about. Their three round war more than redeemed any undercard shortcomings.
There is now at least one welterweight title fight out there worth watching and that’s a major bonus moving forward. Diaz perhaps has the skill set required to ask some fresh questions of St. Pierre. This is the bout the division has been craving.
If this is to be the final farewell for both Penn or Crocop (and I think it should be), they can each leave with their head held high – huge efforts turned in by both guys on their last night even in defeat.
Penn is still certainly capable of competing in either of the divisions he once reigned, but I don’t see him being the type to just make up the numbers. Having been usurped by Edgar at 155 and now falling short of the 170 elite; he will likely see this as the right time for him to move on to other pursuits.
For Crocop, it’s more a case of diminishing options. At this point (should he carry on), he would be reduced to fighting at a prelim level and he’s getting paid way too much for that to make financial sense. He gave as good an account of himself as anyone could have realistically hoped for against Nelson, but Mirko has been a spent force for a long time. The truth is the real Crocop never once showed up in UFC – not even a glimpse – he perished with PRIDE in 07.
