Bellator MMA On Spike – Karl Amoussou Vs. Ben Askren Play By Play

King MoI enjoyed the first Bellator on Spike show enough to come back for more. It’s also King Mo’s first Bellator fight and Ben Askren makes a title defense. The welterweight tournament will also be on display tonight.

1. Koffi Adzitso vs. Ben Saunders

Most of the first round was on the ground. Saunders tried setting up a triangle. When they were back on the feet, he hit a knee strike to Adzitso’s face, which was the best shot of the round.

More really good ground work from Saunders. He went from triangle to omaplata, but Adzitso was good defensively. Saunders also knocked him down and tried to finish on the ground, but Saunders missed with his long reach. Limbs are too long for Adzitso.

Saunders just outworked him. Adzitso even tried to back suplex Saunders and Saunders landed on his face. Saunders was working an arm bar at the end of the round. Easy win for Saunders.

Winner: Ben Saunders by way of unanimous decision

2. Douglas Lima vs. Michail Tsarev

FGB Radio – NFL Divisional Playoffs, Rock Vs. Punk, & Strikeforce Closes

I’ll admit, Jason aka @dadrrtywhyteboi, and I did a whole lot of talking about the pigskin on this week’s episode of FGB Radio. And how could we not? It’s the best weekend of the entire NFL year. You have the eight best teams all battling it out for a chance to move on to the conference championship. We discuss all four games and give our predictions for next weekend’s match-ups.

We then discuss CM Punk’s dismantling of the Rock on Monday and why Rock may need to step up his promo game. Or at least change the style a bit. We talked about Friday’s Smackdown showing which was the first must-see Smackdown in a very long time.

We move to MMA and talk about the Victor Belfort vs. Michael Bisping fight next Saturday night on FX and also talk about the next three weeks for the UFC. Lastly, we talk about a company possibly on the rise and one that’s done. Bellator starts it’s 8th season on Thursday and we talk about the first two cards. Lastly, we talk some fun Strikeforce moments as they are now done as a brand.

Thanks for listening!

Will You Be Watching Bellator When They Move To Spike TV?

Via Bellator.com

I put up an easy yes or no poll on the right side of this post.

I have never watched more than one Bellator fight ever. According to Wikipedia, Bellator has been around since 2009. I know our good friend Stevie J at Angry Marks has gone to several events. But for whatever reason, I’ve never been into it. Even though they have good talent like Eddie Alvarez and Ben Askren, I’ve always labeled them as minor league.

But I think that’s going to change. Well, at least for two shows.

Their eighth season starts on January 17 and it’s on Spike TV following TNA Impact on Thursday night.

Their first card features lightweight champion Michael Chandler defending against Rick Hawn who won the season six lightweight tournament. Pat Curran defends his featherweight title against season four tournament winner Patricio Freire. And the third fight features Babalu Sobral vs. Mikhail Zayats in a light heavyweight tournament fight.

For week two, Ben Askren will defend his welterweight title against Karl Amoussou and King Mo will debut in the light heavyweight tournament against Przemyslaw Mysiala.

I will give it two weeks before I decide whether to continue watching. What about you? Answer the poll on the right and let us know.
