Powerbombshells Episode 8: Windy City Riot Recap

windy city riot review

The latest episode of Powerbombshells was a livestream that immediately followed NJPW’s big Chicago show, Windy City Riot. Mel and I had hot takes, a review, and a recap of what was a troubling FITE TV broadcast.

Windy City Riot featured big matches like Jon Moxley vs. Will Ospreay, ISHII vs. Minoru Suzuki, and Jay White’s U.S. of Jay Open Challenge. There were also matches featuring stories and talent from New Japan Strong.

We also discussed future matches for NJPW’s show in Washington, D.C. when Eddie Kingston challenged ISHII.

Jon Moxley issued a challenge to Hiroshi Tanahashi, who was on commentary in Japan.

While the show itself was great, the FITE TV stream was not. The first match started with no commentary. The stream was regularly kicking fans out. The stream struggled, losing signal from the venue. The streaming issues caused fans to miss large sections of matches, match endings, and most of Kingston’s challenge to ISHII.

AEW’s Battle of the Belts 2 aired at the same time Windy City Riot started. Since the show was pre-taped, rumors leaked that a questionable title change happened. We both tuned into the beginning of the show to see what transpired. We discussed our thoughts on the TNT Championship match between Scorpio Sky vs. Sammy Guevara.

We also discussed a small group of fans chanting “What?” at The Great-O-Khan when he addressed the fans in Japanese. Another topic of conversation was whether or not Moxley will ever go back to WWE.
