The REAL Cardonas have arrived

The real Cardonas have arrived in IMPACT Wrestling, and the show will be much better for it. Chelsea Green, the bland happy-go-lucky wrestler turned on Mickie James during last nights IMPACT. In the middle of James’ title match with Tasha Steelz, Green came to the ring to help her friend fight off Steelz and Savannah Evans. Green, with chair in hand, opened the chair in the and just sat in it, telling Steelz and Evans to continue their beatdown. After Steelz secured the victory Green began berating James causing the two to trade a vicious series of slaps. Matt Cardona then snuck in to the ring and hit his Radio Silence finisher on James.

The moment Green was revealed as a villain, a light came on inside her. She finally became what she was always meant to be, a dirty, rotten, no-good heel. Green’s body language, facial expressions, a mannerisms from Green were incredible. The duo of Cardona and Green have been a top act on the independent for the better part of a year and now IMPACT has them. They could be a top heel act in this company and I could see Cardona challenging and winning the IMPACT title, with Green by his side, sometime this year.

Mickie James’ husband, former NWA and TNA World Champion Nick Aldis took to twitter to respond to the incident and laid out a challenge to Matt Cardona for a match in IMPACT. The two real-life couples will now compete in a mixed tag team match at the Multiverse of Matches.

IMPACT! on AXS TV review

This weeks episode was mostly solid with a couple missable segments. What really secured the thumbs up from me was the show closing angle with Chelsea Green turning on Mickie James. The Philadelphia crowd also deserves some credit as they were pretty lively and actually booed the bad guys. Which is pretty refreshing for a Philly audience.

  • Josh Alexander confronting Moose: Very strong promo segment to start the episode. Alexander called out Moose for going to his home and scaring his family. Moose said after he beats Josh he will go back to his house and show his son what a real role model is. They are cutting deep with this feud here and I love it.
  • Speedball defeating Laredo Kid and Willie Mack: This was a solid X-division match with Mike Bailey securing his spot at Rebellion for the X-Division title.
  • JONAH challenging Ishii: JONAH is an incredible promo. For the life of me, I cannot seem to understand how WWE missed on this guy.

  • Violent By Design (Eric Young & Joe Doering) retaining the tag titles over The Good Brothers: While I am anti-lumberjack matches, especially when the guys around the ring are not wearing flannel outfits, this match was pretty good. OGK cost the Good Brothers the match while the ref was distracted for some reason.
  • Swinger’s Dungeon: Zicky Dice was in Swinger’s Dungeon behind close doors, he came out to talk to Swinger, who seems to think he is running a wrestling school but it’s really a sex club. Dice and Swinger are a very funny comedy duo.
  • Eddie Edwards beats Rocky Romero: This was a very good match that served as a preview to the Multiverse of Matches.  Gresham returned when Edwards attacked Romero after the bell. Great storytelling here as it was Edwards that attacked Gresham backstage prior to Sacrifice.

  • Chelsea Green turning on Mickie James: The street fight was OK, mostly smoke and mirrors with tons of interference from Evans. But the show closing angle with Green turning on Mickie with help from Cardona was awesome, though.

  • Steve Maclin vs. Heath: Not sure what is going on with Heath, but this was not very good. Maclin cheating to win, despite being a heel, is weak. He had a very strong win over Rhino last week, which led me to believe he was being built as a strong heel, but now he is barely beating Heath.
  • All About Me-Locker Room Talk: With exception to Johnny Swinger mentioning Tony Atlas’ foot fetish, this was horrendous. Just bad television. I cannot wait until this IInspriation-Influence feud is over.

  • Alex Shelley vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey and PCO and Moose vs. Josh Alexander and JONAH has been added to the Multiverse of Matches
  • The Ultimate X competitors for the Multiverse event will be Willie Mack, Rich Swann, Vincent, Chris Bey, and Trey Miguel
  • The latest set of IMPACT trading cards have been released, featuring a Drew Galloway card. Wonder if this was part of the deal between WWE and IMPACT earlier this year. They are $30 a pack and feature an autographed card.
  • David Penzer told the Total Nonstop IMPACT podcast that he estimated there were around 1000 fans in attendance for each of the tapings in Philadelphia.
  • Heath’s contract has been extended for one year due to time missed for injury.
  • Its hidden deep in the app, which is fairly difficult to navigate already, but IMPACT Plus uploaded a Bret Hart documentary from the Fight Network.
  • Tickets are on sale now for the Under Siege event and television taping the following night in Newport, Ky (greater Cincinnati area), on May 7 and 8. The events take place at the Promowest Pavilion, which a popular concert venue.
  • Fightful Select is reporting that Jonathan Gresham is expected to sign with the new ROH very soon.
  • The Good Brothers told Sean Ross Sapp that IMPACT has offered them a contract extension.
  • Tony Khan told Outlaw Nation that he’s working with Scott D’Amore about Deonna Purazzo coming in to ROH and defending her title. Her status for Supercard of Honor is still up in the air.
