The rules are simple: We make five picks for each card and a $100 bet on each pick. We’ll keep track of the profits and losses, the most fights picked correctly, and the number of events won per person.
Obviously, if you’re betting, the only important thing is how much money you win and lose, so keep that in mind.
For betting novices, odds reflect the amount of money won or lost on a $100 bet. If the odds are negative, you must bet that amount to win $100. If they are positive, you win that amount if you bet $100.
Additionally, we’ll give our “best bet” exclusively on our In the Clinch podcast that drops on Tuesdays. Last week, Ryan picked Collin Anglin, who lost, and he’s now 11–12 on the year with a $297.48 loss on the best bets. I picked Gloria de Paula, who also lost, so my best bets are now 8–14 with a loss of $519.13
UFC on ESPN 28 results
Ryan’s picks went 1–2 with a loss of $70. It was his first losing week after three straight profitable ones. He picked Kyung Ho Kang, whose fight was cancelled, and Kai Kamaka, who fought to a draw, which is why he only has 3 picks. Despite the small loss, he had the best week and picked up his eighth win as compared to five for me and 13 for Promise.
My picks were 1–3 for a loss of $80. It was my first losing week after two straight profitable ones. I also picked Kamaka, which is why I only have four picks.
Promise went 2–2 with a loss of $94.95. It was the third losing week of the last five for him.
Year-to-date results
Ryan’s picks are 63–56 on the year for a loss of $102.53.
My picks are 49–71 with a loss of $1,351.15.
Promise’s picks are 66–54 with a profit of $1,229.94.
Overall, our combined loss is $223.74.
