ONE FC’s Full Blast in Singapore on May 28 delivered a card featuring an eclectic showcase of martial arts, including three MMA bouts, one kickboxing fight, and a Muay Thai bout in the main event; there was a fight for everybody.

In the opening MMA contest, Anthony Do defeated Liang Hu via unanimous decision. Liang managed to dominate with strong matwork and a knee from a Muay Thai clinch during the first round. The second round featured even more action, where both exchanged a series of flurries before Do landed a hard shot to Liang’s jaw. Liang then landed a nice takedown, but Do put him in a triangle choke position right away, which led to Liang’s submission in the end. This fight was all-action, and it did exactly what an opener should do, which is get us pumped for the rest of the show.

Next, we saw Edward Kelly from the Phillipines defeat Egyptian Taekowndo specialist Ahmed Faress by split decision. Kelly was in a must-win situation here coming off of two straight losses for the first time in his career, but took the decision win in the end.

In the only kickboxing battle on the card, “The Punisher” Miles Simson beat Ernesto Hoost-trainee Santino Verbeek via unanimous decision. Simson won the fight by unanimous decision and it was a strong, impressive win for Simson, but not a dominant one. Also, this was Verbeek’s first fight for ONE FC, and Michael Schiavello and Rich Franklin did a masterful job of putting over how skilled he is during the bout.

In flyweight MMA action, China’s Xie Wei defeated Indian wrestler Kantharaj Agasa. Agasa’s grappling looked strong early on, but Wei defended brilliantly and stuffed his shots.

Muay Thai main event: Saemapetch vs. Kumbadlam (via ONE FC)

In the second round, Wei stuffed another takedown from Agasa, who by this point looked a bit lost. As Agasa backed away from “The Hunter,” Wei landed a flash-jumping knee that split Agasa wide open at the end of the round. This led to ONE FC’s medical team stopping the match resulting in a TKO win for Wei.

Full Blast’s main event saw Saemapetch face off with Kulabdam, which each getting a nice hype video showcasing their skills.

Saemapetch Fairtex came into the event as the #1-ranked bantamweight, but a loss to #3 Kulabdam Sor. Jor. Piek Uthai would have sent him to the back of the bantamweight division line. No need for worry, though, as Saemapetch put Kulabdam away early, using a straight left to the stomach to put Kubadlam on the mat. It was an impressive victory, and a fantastic way to close out a fun night of action.

Since the main event ended early, ONE aired the excellent atomweight bout between Alyona Rassohyna and #5-ranked (and Rich Franklin-scouted) Stamp Fairtex from February. It was an extremely close atomweight fight that saw Rassohyna submit Stamp with a guillotine choke in the last nine seconds of the match.

Overall, Full Blast was fantastic, with Saemapetch Fairtex’s brutal finish in the main event was the major highlight here. ONE FC’s smorgasbord of martial arts action continues to impress with its mix of MMA matches and kickboxing & Muay Thai bouts. Watch the card in its entirety here.
