3/3/2021 AEW Dynamite

All Elite Wrestling is back tonight with a loaded go-home episode ahead of Revolution this Sunday on pay-per-view.

Shaq attack

Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal enters an AEW ring for a tag team match. Shaq teams with Jade Cargill against Cody Rhodes & Red Velvet in a bout that is set to open Dynamite.

The build to this match has honestly been convoluted at times, but it is nonetheless a celebrity attraction. Shaq is not a newcomer to wrestling, and he has been involved in a few matches in WWE. He has also appeared numerous times on WWE television programming over the years.

Even when he was an active player in the NBA, Shaq appeared alongside Hulk Hogan in 1994 after the Hulkster’s in-ring debut in WCW at Bash in the Beach. Shaq over the years involved himself with wrestling many more times since then. In WWE a match was teased between Shaq and Big Show. With Paul Wight now in AEW, does he factor into that match at all?

Paul Wight speaks

Returning to TNT for his first live appearance on the cable channel since 1999, Wight debuts on Dynamite. Wight is set to speak on television for the first time since joining the AEW roster. Wight has already been announced as a commentator for the the new show titled AEW Dark: Elevation.

Eliminator tournament final

The final is set for the Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament. Nyla Rose collides with Ryo Mizunami to determine the number one contender for the top women’s championship in the promotion.

Rose won the United States bracket in advancing to the tournament final. Mizunami won the Japanese bracket. The tournament itself has unfolded on various platforms in recent weeks. The final will air live on TNT tonight as part of Dynamite. The winner challenges Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida at Revolution.

Tully Blanchard returns to the ring

Don’t call it a comeback, but Tully Blanchard returns to in-ring action tonight on Dynamite for a six-man tag team match. Blanchard teams with FTR against Jurassic Express in a trios match.

Hangman & Hardy on opposing sides

Ahead of the their “Big Money” match at Revolution, Hangman Page and Matt Hardy tonight are on opposing sides of a tag team match. Page teams with John Silver of Dark Order against the team of Hardy and Marq Quen.

Jericho & MJF presser

Chris Jericho & MJF hold a press conference to speak on issues related to The Inner Circle.

Dynamite airs tonight on TNT at 8pm ET.

3/3/2021 WWE NXT

A tag team title match headlines tonight for WWE’s black-and-gold brand. The fallout also continues as Undisputed Era implodes further. Pour out a little liquor for them per CJ Tappin.

Women’s Tag Titles

Shayna Baszler and Nia Jaz defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez. The challengers recently won the Dusty Classic to earn a shot at the tag titles. Tonight they get their championship bout.

The tag title bout could be quite good. Baszler has worked with Kai in the past, and they have history heading into the match. The role of Gonzalez as a powerhouse meets the unstoppable force of Nia Jax.

An odd dynamic in the match is both teams are essentially heel duos. The usual structure of a WWE tag match with heat and a hot tag might not work so well with an all-heel dynamic. The match layout could an interesting twist on the usual style seen on WWE programming.

Undisputed Era explodes

Adam Cole turning heel on his stablemates has caused Undisputed Era to explode like the Mega Powers. Maybe even worse than that. Love and jealousy was at the heart of the Mega Powers split.  Though a different kind of love and jealously, those issues are seemingly to blame in the turn of Cole. He loved the brotherhood, but appears to have grown jealous of Kyle O’Reilly’s recent success. Throw in a little Raven: “What about me, what about Raven?” It’s a full-on heel turn.

Where does it lead? My guess is Cole vs. O’Reilly at TakeOver, but we shall see.

WWE NXT airs tonight on USA Network at 8pm ET.
