All Japan Pro Wrestling: NEW YEAR WARS 2021 preview

This weekend, New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom event will attract most fans’ attention from in both the East and the West. However, All Japan Pro Wrestling will offer two major shows on back-to-back nights, on January 2 and 3 from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
The main event of night one pits the All Japan World Tag Team Champions, Violent Giants (Shuji Ishikawa and Triple Crown champion, Suwama) against the hot team of NEXTREME (Kento Miyahara & Yuma Aoyagi). NEXTREME won the December Real World Tag Team Tournament, securing their opportunity to challenge the champions. This will be the first time Miyahara and Suwama will face since March when Suwama ended Miyahara’s 519 day reign as Triple Crown Champion. Aoyagi and Miyahara forged NEXTREME after the two buried the hatchet following a feud in the early months of 2020. Speculation is if NEXTREME can wrest the World Tag belts from Violent Giants, the team will separate.
Also, on night one, Zeus will wrestle former ECW World Champion Masato Tanaka. Plus Junior Heavyweight Champion, the sensational Koji Iwamoto, teams with Ikuto Hidaka against the Big Japan Tag Team Champions, the Astronauts (Fuminori Abe & Takuya Nomura).
On night two, Suwama will defend the Triple Crown title against Yuma Aoyagi. Yoshitatsu, a performer familiar to both New Japan and WWE fans, will defend his GAORA TV title against Jun Kasai, while the All-Asia Tag Titles will be defended as Hokuto Omori and Koji Doi will challenge Champion Carnival Winner Zeus and his Purple Haze partner Izanagi.

Both nights of All Japan Pro Wrestling New Year’s Wars are available on the AJPW.TV streaming service.
