Stardom announces big plans for 2021, including Budokan and EDION Arena shows

At a press conference in Tokyo over the weekend, Stardom announced that next year marks the company’s tenth year in business, and that they will be celebrating their anniversary with a loaded schedule of live events in 2021, starting at their ALL STAR DREAM CINDERELLA super-card Nippon Budokan on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, which also happens to fall on Hinamatsuri this year.

It’s no coincidence that Stardom’s 2021 image overhaul kicks off on a female-centric holiday in the middle of the week. Hinamatsuri, or ‘Girls’ Day,’ is a traditional Japanese holiday meant to celebrate the health and prosperity of daughters across the nation. Families sometimes celebrate by placing a hina doll in their window in early March.

Former Stardom wrestler and first-ever Wonder of Stardom champion Yuzuki Aikawa will also make her return to the company at the upcoming Budokan show in March.

On January 30, the company will host an event called the STARDOM AWARDS in Takadanobaba in Tokyo. A luncheon and ceremony will be held with tickets available to fans soon.

Stardom also announced that their We are STARDOM!! TV program will expand to eight new domestic stations next year, including BS NTV, KBS Kyoto and Hokkaido TV, in addition to their current YouTube broadcast of the show, which airs weekly at 11:00 p.m. JST.

Other notes from the press conference:

  • Bushiroad’s Takaki Kidani of Stardom announced incremental but positive increases in areas of their business, particularly with regard to paid online distribution revenue and social media engagement.
  • Also announced at the conference was the promotion’s OSAKA DREAM CINDERELLA tournament at EDION Arena in Osaka. NJPW, also of Bushiroad kin, often holds their super-cards like DOMINION at EDION Arena. Fellow Queen’s Quest members Momo Watanabe and Utami Hayashishita will square off in main event action for the World of Stardom championship, plus the Wonder of Stardom Championship and SWA World Championship will be on the line simultaneously when champions and Donna Del Mondo mates Giulia and Shuri Kondo go at it in the co-main event, the winner becoming double crown champion.
The pre-show live stream is here.
  • Stardom will post signboards at 33 different stations on the Yamanote Line from Feb 1–28, including ads at major hub stations like Tokyo, Shinjuku and Shibuya.
