Anthony Joshua Vs Kubrat Pulev
It was a jab-fest with Joshua’s jab landing more than Pulev’s. Joshua threw two right hands, one was short and one hit the gloves. Joshua looked very calm and comfortable.
I didn’t expect Joshua to dwarf Pulev as much as he’s doing. Joshua is using his length to land jabs. He got a little more comfortable with a overhand right and an uppercut, but didn’t land. Did land the jab though.
Joshua hit Pulev with his entire arsenal. Pulev took some big right hands and tried to pretend like he wasn’t hurt. But then he was turning his entire body away from Joshua, which you rarely see in boxing. He went toward the corner and turned away and the referee called it a knockdown. Joshua then knocked him down again with an uppercut. Pulev made it up and lasted the round.
Joshua tried him out early to see if he could put him away, but then went back to being patient like in the first two rounds. He easily won the round, but Pulev was fine as well for most of that round. Looks like he got his legs back.
Joshua threw another exploding right hand that Pulev surprisingly survived. Joshua threw a wicked uppercut that missed. Pulev actually landed a really nice right that caught Joshua off-guard it seems. Joshua’s won all five and has a 10-7 as well.
This was Pulev’s best round. He was much more aggressive with his jab and he was also trying to bully Joshua inside, hitting him on the back of the head. It was probably also out of frustration as Joshua was tying him up a lot.
Joshua went for it again, throwing three uppercuts in a row and tried to put him away. But Pulev was able to take all of it and smile. Pulev didn’t do much on his end for the round.
Pulev landed a nice right hand that seemed to wake up Joshua. Joshua threw his jab to the body four different times, but then went away from it and was fine moving and looking for a big shot. He missed another uppercut that was a heavy shot.
Joshua found his sweet spot in Pulev’s defense in this round. He threw four consecutive uppercuts and Pulev just took them. Then, he landed another one and Pulev was buckled. He was trying to hold on but couldn’t and went down. He was clearly out of it. But he did get back up. With 18 seconds left, the fight restarted and Pulev ate a right hand and went down hard. The referee could’ve called it, but he did the complete 10 count and the fight was over.
