G1 Climax 28 Final – Hiroshi Tanahashi Vs Kota Ibushi

After 18 nights of great wrestling, we will have a winner at the end of this night. Hiroshi Tanahashi won the A Block, while Kota Ibushi won the B Block after beating Kenny Omega earlier today.
Shota Umino, Ayoto Yoshida, & Yugi Nagata Vs Togi Makabe, Michael Elgin and Tomoaki Honma
Ayoto Yoshida made his NJPW debut here. He also lost the fall. Makabe hit the King Kong Knee Drop to beat him.
Winner: Togi Makabe, Michael Elgin and Tomoaki Honma
Toa Henare Vs Bad Luck Fale
This was less than two minutes long. Henare jumped him before the bell, but soon enough, it was Grenade and Bad Luck Fall and it was quickly over.
Winner: Bad Luck Fale
Taichi & Takashi Iizuka Vs YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto
Iizuka showed up to the ring late so he could jump YOSHI-HASHI and Goto while their backs were turned. He was wearing a muzzle, so he couldn’t bite, but Taichi helped him take it off so he could bite poor YOSHI-HASHI in the head and then on his injured shoulder. Taichi got the win with a powerbomb on YOSHI-HASHI.

Cody Rhodes & Adam Page Vs David Finlay & Juice Robinson
I didn’t even know Cody was in Japan. Match was built around Juice’s left hand, Page’s Buckshot Clothesline, and then a Dusty jab-fest between Cody and Juice.
Juice set up the Pulp Friction after no-selling the Beautiful Disaster kick, but Cody turned it into a Vertebreaker to win the match.
Winner: Cody Rhodes & Adam Page
Cody challenged Juice to a match for the US championship and said that he’s a ripoff Kairi Sane.
Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Taiji Ishimori Vs Marty Scurll & The Young Bucks
Tama walked out like he was Scott Hall swaying around. Loa tried to do the announcing, but it was pretty terrible. Loa asked for it to be a Never trios title match and Matt Jackson asked Harold Meij if they could do it and he said yes.
Tonga pinned Marty after a Gun Stun. The Bucks were working on Ishimori, thinking he was the legal man. They set him up for an Indy Taker, but Loa caught Nick and power slammed him. Ishimori gave Matt the Code Breaker to his stomach. Scurll caught Loa with a low kick to the knee and then tried to break his fingers, but was hit with the Gun Stun.
Winner: Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Taiji Ishimori
Even though they wanted the title shot, they tossed the belts back toward Meij and left.
Minoru Suzuki, Zack Sabre Jr., Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Desperado Vs Tetsuya Naito, Evil, Sanada, & Bushi
Suzuki sunk in an armbar on Naito from the apron. He pulled Naito’s arm underneath the bottom rope and pulled back like he was on a teeter totter, bouncing up and down.
The rest of the match was a wild brawl. At the end of the match, Sanada put Kanemaru in the Skull End. Prior, Kanemaru went to spit whiskey into his face, but missed. Once the Skull End was locked in, Kanemaru spit more whiskey before tapping out.
Winner: Tetsuya Naito, Evil, Sanada, & Bushi
Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano, & Jay White Vs Kenny Omega, Chase Owens, & Yujiro Takahashi
As you’d expect, a lot of the match was silly, including a row, row, row your boat spot where Yujiro’s valet Peter was twirling in the middle and the guys were mesmerized. Well, except Kenny Omega who was upset and asked her to leave the ring.
The match brokedown between Chase Owens and Ishii. They traded clotheslines until Ishii hit the brainbuster for the win. Omega tried to save Owens, but Jay White held his legs.
Winner: Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano, & Jay White
Ishii handed Omega his title and looked to challenge him for the belt.
Sengoku Enbu, Kushida, and Rey Mysterio Vs Kazuchika Okada, Yoh, and Sho
It was fun seeing Rey work against all three guys. Enbu is Ryusuke Taguchi under a mask. Enbu used a series of hip attacks, including countering a Rainmaker attempt with his own version, but instead with a hip attack.
Rey had both Sho and Yoh ready for a 619 and as he hit the ropes, Okada came into the ring and drilled him with a sweet drop kick.
Enbu and Kushida hit stereo topes on Okada and Sho, leaving Rey alone with Yoh. Rey hit the 619 and then the springboard splash to win.

Kota Ibushi Vs Hiroshi Tanahashi
Omega is in Ibushi’s corner and Katsuyori Shibata is in Tanahashi’s corner.
Tanahashi is focusing on Ibushi’s legs and when Ibushi does his combination of moves, he holds his right knee. Tanahashi countered the lawn dart spot by turning it into a Slingblade. Tanahashi tried to skin the cat, but Ibushi caught his legs and pulled him in the ring. Tanahashi was upside down and Ibushi sat down on some sort of dangerous driver. Tanahashi tucked his head, but it still looked dangerous.
Tanahashi used a dragon screw on the knee. Ibushi was outside the ring and Tanahashi hit his High Fly Flow. Ibushi then hit a springboard moonsault to the floor. Ibushi had Tanahashi on the top turnbuckle. Tanahashi slapped him and he went to the apron, but he immediately jumped up and springboarded himself on the top rope and did a hurricanrana. He went for the Kamigoye, but missed, and Tanahashi rolled him up for two. Ibushi immediately hit the running Bomaye.
They had a slapping match back and forth. Ibushi was slapping him, but Tanahashi was powering up like Hulk Hogan in his prime and backed him into the corner. They went toe-to-toe with slaps. Tanahashi knocked him backward with a slap and then Ibushi hit a clothesline. They also went toe-to-toe with forearms. Tanahashi hit a Slingblade and then a straight jacket German suplex. He went to the top for the High Fly Flow and Ibushi got his knees up. Ibushi hit a Bomaye to the back of Tanahashi’s head. He did his standing moonsault into the double knees move that he did against Omega.

Then he lawn darted Tanahashi into the corner. Ibushi pulled Tanahashi from the outside with a German in which he used the second rope for leverage. Then his hit the Golden Star Powerbomb for a two count. He missed the Kamigoye, but then gave him a German. He missed another and Tanahashi hit two Twist and Shouts. Tanahashi hit a Dragon Suplex for two. Ibushi was on his stomach so he couldn’t block the High Fly Flow. Then Tanahashi turned him and went back to the top. Ibushi got up, but Tanahashi still hit the High Fly Flow. Then he went back up with Ibushi in the center of the ring and hit it again for the win.
