Who is going to win the 2016 Royal Rumble?
Are you ready for the road to WrestleMania? I sure am. It has to be better than the road to Survivor Series and TLC right?
The FGB crew has their thoughts on the direction and give their thoughts on who should be the 2016 Royal Rumble winner.
Alan: I think HHH is a mortal lock for the Rumble this year. They’ve really telegraphed that they’re going that route and they’re not exactly operating in the most subtle nuanced fashion these days. I think the Rumble will be used to get HHH vs Roman and Lesnar vs Wyatt off and running for Mania. Oh and I hope that means Lesnar vs Harper at Fastlane!
Duan: I sometimes give WWE way more credit than they deserve, especially in recent years and especially on this show in particular. When it comes to setting up their biggest card of the year, I just expect them to get things right and I’m usually left disappointed. You know me though (ever the optimist); I say they see sense and relegate Hunter and Roman to Fastlane and have The Undertaker carry the belt into Mania. It’s Texas, it’s 25 years of The Undertaker, it’s the biggest Wrestlemania of all time – why not add one more piece of history for the big man’s last match?
Cactus Jim: I predict we see Jake The Snake.
Cadillac Don: I’d love to see Jake. But what other older wrestlers do you think will make a surprise appearance?
WHAT WILL HAPPEN
I’m afraid we’re not going to be happy with the winner. Brock will be tossed by his WrestleMania opponent (Stroman? Joe? AJ?), and Reigns will find a way to make it to the final four (or two), but then get screwed and tossed. Who’s going to be the winner? I’d hate to see Triple H win it, even though it works in their lazy storyline. I’d love to see somebody like Samoa Joe, Kevin Owens, or even Daniel Bryan (surprise return) win. Chances of that happening? About the same as me being #21.
WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN
Close to the same scenario, but Roman somehow manages to eke out a win and solidifies his championship reign.
Big D: To me, Alberto Del Rio is back and better than ever. He needs to win the title and have Brock chase him, leaving Roman to battle HHH on the undercard and that way you have a solid double main. Taker should work Jericho.
GG: Like Alan, I think Triple H is winning this thing. Is that best for business? With all the injuries that have happened, it’s quite possible that it is. I would love to see Brock Lesnar destroy everyone in sight and have him toss Roman to win the title, but then you’d theoretically have to beat Lesnar at WrestleMania. Is that best for future business?
I also love Duan’s suggestion of having the Undertaker show up and win it and defend it at WrestleMania. With the steak gone, it would put Taker’s match back in the main event slot and this show needs a strong main event.
However, unless WWE is going to swerve us, it sure as hell seems like Triple H is going to win this thing. I just hope that he does it in the most heelish fashion ever.
