Rousey vs Holm

Check out our live coverage of UFC 193: Rousey Vs Holm.

The Ronda Rousey train rolls through Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia tonight, or actually, early Sunday evening if you’re in Australia. Does Holly Holm stand a chance? Check back for our live coverage once the show starts.

Jared Rosholt Vs Stefan Struve

Very boring first round. Struve is a humongous human being. But he was way tentative and Rosholt got a takedown on a leg kick attempt. Rosholt also bruised his lead leg with kicks. Rosholt controlled him down on the ground as the crowd booed.

Rosholt got another takedown and pretty much kept Struve on his back. He ate an upkick. Struve also tried to kimura or arm bar him from the bottom.

Struve finally started connecting, but couldn’t cut off the cage. When he’d get in close, Rosholt would duck away and start running out of there. Rosholt got a late takedown, but then Struve did as well. It’s probably 2-1 for Jared.

Winner: Jared Rosholt by way of unanimous decision.

The scores were 29-28 across the board. Not quite the way you wanted to start the show.

Robert Whittaker Vs Uriah Hall

Hall is moving well, but Whittaker is doing a great job avoiding the flashiness. Hall tried the tornado kick, but Whittaker ducked it and ended up taking Hall down. He had Hall’s back to end the round.

Whittaker hit Hall with a jab that the ref thought was an eye poke and paused the action. Second round was closer with good back and forth. Whittaker is scoring with kicks, but caught one by Hall.

Third round started quickly and Whittaker caught Hall, who defended himself by turning his back to him. Whittaker pushed him up against the cage and foot stomped him. Hall started to land kicks and Whittaker is bleeding pretty well from the nose. Hall backed him up into the cage and landed tough knees. Whittaker seems to be trying to hold on, but there’s still 2 minutes left in the round. Hall hit him with a front kick to the face. Whittaker feinted and Hall turned his back. I wonder if he’s protecting his eye.

Winner: Robert Whittaker by way of unanimous decision

The scores were 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28.

Bigfoot Silva Vs Mark Hunt

Bigfoot tripped, Hunt clipped him with a right hand and Bigfoot went down stunned. He was frozen on the ground and was stopped on the ground with punches.

Winner: Mark Hunt by way of 1st round TKO

Valérie Létourneau Vs Joanna Jędrzejczyk

Létourneau got an early takedown and was able to push Jędrzejczyk up against the cage and move her a bit. Jędrzejczyk landed a front kick right to the face and stunned her. It was a delayed reaction. Létourneau thought it was coming low and went to block it, but it was aimed right at her face.

Létourneau caught her kick and tried to land some shots. She’s definitely bigger and stronger. But she’s going to have to be able to walk through the body kicks and I don’t know if you can do that for five rounds. Because she’s surely not going to be able to block all of them. The round was very close and Létourneau was holding her own on the feet.

This was a much more clear round for Jędrzejczyk. She controlled the action and it stayed on the feet. She caught Létourneau with some shots that she seemed to be super frustrated that she was taking. The first two rounds were close and Létourneau may even get one on the cards. But this was Jędrzejczyk’s best round.

Jędrzejczyk is methodically breaking her down with vicious combinations. Létourneau has two black eyes and is taking so much punishment now. Jędrzejczyk throws her combinations and gets out of dodge and Létourneau can’t counter by the time she’s already taken punches.

Létourneau has a mouse under her right eye that looks like it’s about to burst. Jędrzejczyk kept targeting it. The referee stopped the fight to check on the eye. Jędrzejczyk is a fantastic striker, but Létourneau is tough as a two dollar steak. This was a really good fight.

Winner: Joanna Jędrzejczyk by way of unanimous decision

The scores were 49-46, 49-46, and 50-45.

Holly Holm Vs Ronda Rousey

Holm looked good early with her boxing. She was able to move around Ronda and hit counters. Ronda tried to make the boxing dirty and landed, but she’s clearly not in Holm’s class as a boxer. Rousey got the clinch a couple times, but Holm looked good in staying patient and getting out of it. Rousey isn’t seeing the left coming and Holm is snapping her head back. Holm picked Rousey up and put her on the ground. Rousey’s chasing her. Looks like she may have twisted her knee. That was Holm’s round.

It’s over. Ronda got turned around and Holm head kicked her into oblivion. Ronda was out and Holm followed up on the ground.

Holm knocks out Rousey

Winner: Holly Holm by way of 2nd round TKO
