Check out our Team McGregor vs Team Faber recap for episode seven.
Remember when The Ultimate Fighter was on TV? Well, it’s back. To remind you from the last time it was on, Urijah Faber’s team won their fight and chose Thanh Le vs Martin Svensson as the next fight.
Thanh is primarily a flashy stand-up fighter and Martin wants to push him up against the cage and eventually take him down.
Thanh says he feels comfortable anywhere, though prefers to stay on his feet and most of his wins have been via first round knockout.
They have to blur out a headband that some of the Team USA members are wearing because there’s a penis drawn on them. Nice.
Julian Erosa started talking trash to Chris Gruetzemacher, saying that he had the most boring fight of the season. Erosa said he’d beat Gruetzemacher and told him to start something. Gruetzemacher started pouring water and beer on him. Erosa wanted to throw down. I think they both were drunk.
Erosa, who was most heated, the day after said it was just all alcohol based but also said some of the guys were on edge because of the competition heating up.
Urijah’s team went to the store to pick out clothes to dress like Conor and are coming out to the fight with the clothes on. Conor got a kick out of it.
Martin Svensson Vs Thanh Le
Svensson used his size to bully him to the ground and smother him, but late in the round, Le absolutely mauled him and looked like he could’ve stopped him on the ground had the fight gone a few more seconds.
Svensson dominated the second round. He got Le to the ground and took his time moving into position. Eventually, he got his back and sunk in the rear naked choke. Le tried an armbar which set it up.
Winner: Martin Svensson by way of 2nd round submission
Svensson had a lot of good things to say about Le’s power. Faber said that if he wants to be good in the sport, he has to commit to the ground.
Conor announces James Jenkins against Artem Lobov for the next fight. Faber says both guys love to bang.
Final thoughts: This wasn’t one of the better episodes, but it delivered with some humor (Team Faber dressing as Conor) and drama (Team Faber fighting amongst themselves).
