We have both parts of the countdown to UFC 189 hype special.

It’s not only unfortunate that UFC 189 lost its main event, but I imagine there was so much video shot already to hype the fight. I understand there was already a countdown special shot for Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo and I heard it was outstanding.

They did what they could here with the short time frame they had to shoot another special. Chad Mendes’ personality didn’t really come out here, but I liked the stuff with his Team Alpha Male teammates.

The Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald portion of the hype special was a little bit better, but still lacking when it came to really getting people not already interested in UFC 189 to become interested. Georges St-Pierre is helping with Rory’s training. Lawler looks to be training like a madman. I think the intrigue for me is wondering if Lawler can continue to fight at such a high peak in what should be the twilight of his career. MacDonald should be in his prime here.
