Right after Sergey Kovalev finished an easy victory over Bernard Hopkins on Saturday night, HBO followed up with the single episode of 24/7 Pacquiao Vs Algieri.
It seems that they aren’t doing the multi-episode series leading up to the fight like they have in the past for Pacquiao fights, which is both good and bad. If you have 24/7 and All Access overload, you probably are fine with not seeing multiple episodes. But, I will say that it could’ve helped build Chris Algieri who is still not a household name outside of the super hardcores in the boxing world.
I would’ve loved to see more information about his background, including his early rise as a kickboxer before transitioning into boxing.
As for Pacquiao, he’s still the same rockstar in the Philippines who can coach his PBA basketball team and then play on the team at the same time, even though he’s not even close to good enough to do either.
I think the fight needs help in promotion and maybe they’ll get help soon as HBO announced that they will debut a new show centered around the fight soon.
