Sergey Kovalev does it again.
Sergey Kovalev beat Blake Caparello (in pretty much the same way Duan said he would) by second round knockout in a fight that was overshadowed because of the news that Kovalev and Bernard Hopkins signed a contract to fight in November.
The fight with Hopkins was predicated on Kovalev winning the fight with Caparello, which just about everyone figured he wouldn’t have a problem doing.
There was a slight scare in the first as Caparello scored a bit of a flukey knockdown. He looked to hit Kovalev low and the followed up with stepping on Kovalev’s lead foot with his and landing a punch which put Kovalev’s glove on the mat.
But by the end of the first round, Kovalev looked like he was ready to take Caparello out, which he did in the second.
Hopkins at 50 years old has his hands full with Krusher Kovalev who seemingly no one wants to fight. Hopkins will have to be at his absolute best defensively and be able to tie Kovalev up so that he doesn’t get full range on his punches. Should be quite the deal to look forward to.
