It didn’t take long for Gennady Golovkin to knock out yet another.
What’s more impressive about Gennady Golovkin’s knockout of Daniel Geale on Saturday night? Is it the sheer force and power behind the right hand? Is it the accuracy to continually land shots right on the button?
I think the most impressive thing about Golovkin’s knockout punch is that he himself was knocked off balanced by a right hand from Geale and still had enough power coming forward to land on the button and convincingly.
You can almost see the surprise and awe in Geale’s response as he was getting up. He gets up and he’s trying to make sure he has all his faculties in order. He’s trying to pump himself up to get back out there. But it’s almost like he realizes what happens. He landed a great shot and Golovkin shook it off and immediately followed up with the knockout blow. Geale smartly decided he wasn’t going to go out there again.
That’s what was most amazing to me about Golovkin’s performance. Ya, he got hit a bit too easily, but it’s because he was working for the big knockout. And it’s not like Geale was a pushover. Golovkin just made him look like one.
