All Access: Mayweather vs. Maidana episode 3 has been uploaded to YouTube and with this one, they try to show a few different layers to Floyd Mayweather.
There wasn’t a whole lot of Maidana on this episode. It was about Floyd thinking about how long he has left in the sport of boxing and how he would like to make some changes in his life.
There was a peculiar scene where he was talking about Miss Jackson without bringing up her name. She was Floyd’s long time fiancé. They are no longer together. He was saying how a few months ago, she was pregnant with twins. I’m assuming they were his. And he didn’t say anything about the twins after. He mentioned mistakes he made. Once again, just based on what he said, I’ll assume she was tired of him cheating on her. And at that very moment, Floyd had an epiphany about changing his ways because he’s a good person. And he’s saying all of this while two female members of The Money Team are naked, covered with towels, and getting massages in his bedroom all while he watches. Floyd’s an interesting cat to say the least.
You saw Floyd as someone who takes care of his entourage and who gives people chances. They showed a four year old child prodigy skateboarder who Floyd supposedly has signed to his brand. They showed P-Reala who is the CEO of Floyd’s Philthy Rich record label. The label itself has seemed to be dormant forever, but P-Reala got some screen time.
There was very little training footage for the entire run of episodes. Instead, they tried to tell the story of the differences between the fighters. Maidana gets a tattoo after every training camp so he had his WBC title tattooed to his lower quad. Robert Garcia, his trainer, seemed confident, but not as cocky as usual. Maybe Brandon Rios’ loss to Manny Pacquiao tamed him.
All in all, it was entertaining because the show is shot so well. What the show really needed was more Roger Mayweather. Outside of a few shots of him holding the mits, you saw more of Floyd’s father.
But there was nothing in it that made you believe that Marcos Maidana has a shot to beat Floyd. Then again, the Undertaker just lost at WrestleMania 30, so anything is possible. I guess.
