The epilogue to All Access: Mayweather vs. Maidana has been uploaded to YouTube.
You can watch it below.
The show was an excellent wrap-up to a good, though not great All Access series. While there was some drama before the fight, with Marcos Maidana’s punchers’ gloves not being allowed after Floyd Mayweather and Leonard Ellerbe tried them on and noticed there wasn’t much padding in the knuckles’ area. Trainer Robert Garcia told Mayweather that if he wanted it to be equal, he should use Maidana’s gloves instead of Maidana using his. Floyd threw the argument that he was the A side and it was a Mayweather Promotions fight and thus, what they go said. Not only would Floyd not want to get hit with those gloves, his hands wouldn’t stand a chance of surviving in them either.
You also got to see Justin Bieber and Lil’ Wayne backstage. Bieber looked ridiculous; like he was a mom on vacation.
There was good stuff with both of their kids. Floyd’s daughter was right in his corner, yelling words of encouragement to him and calling Maidana a cheater. Marcos’ son, who travelled 17 hours was calm, helping his grandmother deal with the fight, telling her that God wouldn’t let her son lose.
And then, when the fight was over, you saw the opposite of both emotions as Floyd’s daughter was whooping and hollering and Marcos’ son was silently crying.
But the dramatics of the fight stand on their own. From the dirtiness of both guys to Floyd withstanding Marcos’ early onslaught to Floyd figuring him out and making him miss late, the fight was quality entertainment. While it wasn’t a classic in the sense most would think, because of the rough tactics, it was more entertaining than it had any right to be.
The only interesting thing to come out of the epilogue is that they were heavily teasing an immediate rematch with Marcos telling his son that they’d come back in September. I don’t know if we need an immediate rematch, but if Marcos gets another big win, I can see him fighting Mayweather again.
