According to Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez from Wrestling Observer/F4WOnline, Jon Jones’ next opponent will not be Alexander Gustafsson, even after a photo of Jones and Gustafsson together in the hospital made them look like a modern day Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed.

Instead, it will be Glover Teixeira. Teixeira recently knocked out Ryan Bader on UFC Fight Night, cementing his contender status.

Personally, I would’ve rather seen the rematch happen first before Teixeira got his shot, only because there were so many people who thought Gustafsson won, even though I thought it was clear personally that Jones won. I had it 49-47. But, for the first time in Jon Jones’ career, he wasn’t in complete control of a fight. At the very least, Gustafsson took the fight to Jones and the outcome was in question.

However, I feel like the two will be tied together somehow. Even though most feel that Jones and his camp are so smart that they’ll figure out Gustafsson’s style by the time they fight again, there’s something about the way he picked Jones apart early and made him look human that stands out to me. I’m sure we’ll see this fight again.
