The Raw Rerun (3 Weeks Until SummerSlam)

Daniel Bryan and Vince McMahon

Raw was taped last week, but if you didn’t know, you couldn’t tell. The show was more boring than it has been and wasn’t very eventful, but the main stuff (Daniel Bryan, John Cena, Vince McMahon) was okay. It didn’t really progress much though.

Daniel Bryan and Vince McMahon are a fine tandem.

Raw opened with Vince McMahon and Brad Maddox (who are a fine tandem as well) coming down the aisle so that Vince could berate Maddox for letting John Cena choose Daniel Bryan.

In most cases, I should hate something like this because Vince buried Bryan, but Bryan’s character is very much the underdog who wins, so it was fine here. Vince told Bryan that the reason Cena picked him is because he could easily beat him. Bryan told Vince that he had the listen to the WWE Universe who all chanted, “Yes” when he asked them if they wanted a new WWE Champion.

Later in the show, Bryan won again, this time beating Kane who was hand picked by Vince and Brad to beat Bryan. After the match, Kane was attacked by The Wyatts.

Christian beats Alberto Del Rio in a non-title match.

Of all the possible contenders for Del Rio, I didn’t see Christian as the guy right now because he came back and his return was quite bland, compared to say, Rob Van Dam. Van Dam lost to Del Rio on Smackdown last week, but Christian won here. Christian is a good wrestler, but with so many start and stops, the crowd rarely gets behind him like they do against RVD.

They could always make it a three way.

John Cena beat Ryback (hahahahahahahaha) again.

Cena beat Ryback, again. It was a decent car crash, but Ryback is such a terrible seller of moves. The most impressive thing he did was grab a table and try to ram it into Cena who was up against the post on the outside. Cena wasn’t there but Ryback still broke it in half.

There was a dumb spot where Ryback tried to press slam Cena through a table outside, but Cena went over the table. Then they played a bit of chase since there was a table between them as it was propped up against the metal steps. Ryback got one of the steps. Cena got another. And they threw it at each other at the same time, which was goofy.

Cena finally won and Bryan came out. He grabbed his belt and was about to give it to him, but pulled it back. Cena snatched it away. Bryan got “Yes” chants going again before the show went off the air.

And the rest…

  • The Shield beat Mark Henry and the Usos, but they paid for it as Henry went off on them after it was over.
  • Ryback beat up some young guy in the back.
  • Fandango walked out on RVD. The act is old now.
  • AJ was very weird with Big E backstage and then lost to Kaitlyn via spear inside the ring. She wasn’t a happy camper.
  • Big E lost by DQ in an impromptu match to Dolph Ziggler when AJ interfered.
  • Daniel Bryan and John Cena argued in the back. Cena told Bryan not to trust what McMahon says. Bryan says McMahon is always truthful with him.
  • Cody Rhodes beat Wade Barrett. Poor Wade.
  • Brie Bella beat Natalya when Nikki came out with a duck call which was to insinuate that Natalya was the ugly duckling of “Total Divas”. How many Piggie James angles can we do?
  • Curtis Axel beat R-Truth when CM Punk interfered, trying to get to Paul Heyman. It’s amazing how little Punk did on this show.
  • Vince told HHH that he wants someone to beat Cena who doesn’t look like Bryan, like Triple H, if he was only 23 years younger. Steph says they should give Daniel Bryan the corporate makeover. Shouldn’t they wait for him to win the match first?
