You may remember when we told you about MLW Radio. This time, we’re here to tell you about another great wrestling (most of the time) podcast, The Steve Austin Show.
The Steve Austin Show Podcast Review
Yes, it’s that same Texas redneck (on Twitter @steveaustinBSR) who entertained you as one of the greatest WWF superstars of all-time.
I will admit that I had reservations about Austin’s show. Not because I don’t think he’s a talented speaker. He is only one of the greatest promos of all-time. But more so, the bar in the podcast game has been raised because of so many talented comedians with tremendous improvisational talent are owning the genre. However, I should’ve never been worried.
While Austin’s not as good at as he will be after more repetitions, he’s such a talented and entertaining person, he can take subjects that might not be interesting on the surface and make them hilarious. His bombastically bad-ass wrestling persona comes across just as vividly through radio as it did on TV.
I’ve been in from the start and it’s one of my favorite shows to listen to.
If you haven’t given it a listen, here’s what you’ve missed:
– A great discussion with Shawn Michaels which touched upon things I always wondered about such as how Michaels dealt with Austin taking his spot.
– His own experience with the mani-pedi.
– Several podcasts in Mexico while filming Redneck Island.
– His play-by-play of a wrestling match where he jobs to The Fly.
– A two-parter with Kevin Nash, which is like listening to two old wrestling vets talk shop at a bar.
– A show with the great Terry Funk.
– His adventures with a woodpecker and almost dying in the shower.
– Other wrestling discussions with Jim Ross, Kurt Angle, Lance Storm and Trish Stratus.
Austin has more wrestling related discussions scheduled for the future, such as one I’m excited about with Bret Hart.
If you want to catch up, he’s only recorded 19 shows so far. You won’t know whether to shit or wind your watch.
