It’s Royal Rumble time. We made our predictions earlier in the week. It’s go time.

The World Title match opens the show.

1. Big Show vs. Alberto Del Rio – Last Man Standing

Before the match, Bret Hart showed up in the back, called Del Rio the Mexican Bret Hart, and then gave Ricardo some glasses.

It’s a bit odd to watch such a big guy do lucha spots, and while I haven’t been a big fan of Del Rio’s face turn, he does have some fire. The San Jose crowd didn’t seem to buy him.

But they booked him perfectly in this match. Big Show is so good at being a bully. He toss Del Rio from the stage to a table below and Del Rio looked to conk his head. But he got up at the 9 1/2 count.

The finish was unique. Del Rio had Show in the arm bar and Ricardo duct taped Show’s feet to the ropes. Del Rio let go and Show then had to try and get up. He couldn’t. The match was good and while the ending may not have been what gets Del Rio over, it was entertaining. Del Rio looked good in his role.

Winner: Alberto Del Rio

2. The Rhodes Scholars vs. Team Hell No

In a bit of a surprise to me, Daniel Bryan made Damien Sandow tap with the No Lock. It was okay, but nothing special. They didn’t really get a lot of time to build to a crescendo and the finish felt like it came out of nowhere.

Winner: Team Hell No

3. The Royal Rumble

Dolph is one and Chris Jericho is number two. Nice little surprise there.

Santino came in and tried to throw everyone out and thought he did, only he didn’t. Then he put on the Cobra and hit Kofi, but Jericho chopped him and Rhodes tossed him out. First humor spot of the match.

Sheamus did the racist spot, eliminating Titus O’Neil and David Otunga right after each other. Cody eliminated Goldust. They worked a lot together. Kofi was kicked out by Ziggler, but he leapt onto Tensai’s back. Tensai had just been eliminated. He then made it to the announcers’ table and used JBL’s chair to hop back to the ring. But Cody eliminated him soon thereafter. The Godfather came in with his long entrance and was immediately eliminated by Dolph.

Cena came in at #19 like a ball of fire and immediately threw out Slater and Rhodes. Kane eliminated Khali and then Bryan dumped Kane. Cesaro booted Bryan out and Kane caught him. But Kane wouldn’t put him back in the ring and just dropped him. What a poor sport.

Bo Dallas eliminated Wade Barrett and then Barrett stuck around to pull him out. Ryback immediately tossed three guys out. Jericho gave Ryback and Ziggler the Code Breaker. But Ziggler kicked him out. Orton went for the RKO, but Ryback clotheslined him out. Sheamus clotheslined Ziggler out. Three guys left – Sheamus, Ryback, and Cena. Ryback tossed out Sheamus after Sheamus wanted to boot him. It’s down to Cena and Ryback.

Cena and Ryback were quite klutzy and it’s not because of Cena. I can’t believe they trusted Ryback out there. He messed up both eliminations. He eliminated Sheamus, but didn’t eliminate him cleanly. And when Cena clotheslined him out, he didn’t go over cleanly. John Cena is your winner.

4. The Rock vs. CM Punk

Rock cut an American Dream Dusty Rhodes babyface promo before the match. He can’t lose now.

The story was that Punk hurt his knee during the match and he just refused to let it bother him.

Punk and Rock traded back and forth all match long. Punk had some great reversals and looked like the guy who was more on his A game. They were outside and on the announcers’ table. Punk teased the GTS and instead, Rock went to Rock Bottom Punk, but the table gave way and both guys spilled. Rock then gave him the move on the floor.

Rock went for the People’s Elbow and the lights went out. When the lights came back on, Rock was through the other announcer’s table. Cole was screaming that the Shield put him through the table but we didn’t see it. Punk rolled him into the ring and pinned him.

Vince came out ready to strip Punk because of the Shield, but Rock said he wanted the match restarted and Vince restarted it. Punk tried to give him the GTS but he couldn’t and Rock hit the People’s Elbow for the win.

Winner: The Rock
