I have never watched more than one Bellator fight ever. According to Wikipedia, Bellator has been around since 2009. I know our good friend Stevie J at Angry Marks has gone to several events. But for whatever reason, I’ve never been into it. Even though they have good talent like Eddie Alvarez and Ben Askren, I’ve always labeled them as minor league.
But I think that’s going to change. Well, at least for two shows.
Their eighth season starts on January 17 and it’s on Spike TV following TNA Impact on Thursday night.
Their first card features lightweight champion Michael Chandler defending against Rick Hawn who won the season six lightweight tournament. Pat Curran defends his featherweight title against season four tournament winner Patricio Freire. And the third fight features Babalu Sobral vs. Mikhail Zayats in a light heavyweight tournament fight.
For week two, Ben Askren will defend his welterweight title against Karl Amoussou and King Mo will debut in the light heavyweight tournament against Przemyslaw Mysiala.
I will give it two weeks before I decide whether to continue watching. What about you? Answer the poll on the right and let us know.
