3 Things You Need To Know About Raw (6 Weeks Until Royal Rumble)

Via WWE.com

The WWE needs a Slammy Awards every week. By giving out awards, it meant the matches were shorter and not as boring as they have been with the 3-hour Raw shows. It doesn’t mean the awards were any good, except for maybe the award for match of the year since HHH came back with his short haircut and actually took it sort of seriously.

But really, here is all you need to know about the show in three short steps.

1. The Nature Boy is back!

The presenter for WWE Superstar of the Year was none other than the Nature Boy Ric Flair. Why did they bring him in unannounced? Who knows. Cena won the award via fan vote and gave it to Flair before CM Punk came out and they went into the ring together. Punk cheap shotted Flair with his crutch and Cena never came out to save him. But Flair poked him in the eyes and he was able to put the figure four on Paul Heyman which was fun. Then, the Shield came out and attacked Flair which brought out Daniel Bryan, Kane, and then Ryback and the three of them cleared the ring. Ryback and Kane put Flair on their shoulders.

Ryback also had a match against Antonio Cesaro, but after taking a bit of a beating, Cesaro walked to the back and was counted out.

2. Triple H teases that we haven’t seen the last of the Undertaker.

The Undertaker vs. Triple H match from WrestleMania beat John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar, John Cena vs. Rock at WrestleMania (hmmm), and Sheamus vs. Big Show at Hell In A Cell (hmm) to win Match of the Year. Either of the first two matches could’ve won it. Since Rock already won Comeback of the Year, I didn’t think he’d also win for his match with Cena. And he wasn’t there so it was probably for the best.

But the reason why it’s important is because during his speech, Triple H said that it wasn’t the last time we’d see the Undertaker again, which means that Taker is going to be back for WrestleMania, but we already knew that. It was just a nice tease for the big show which they’ve done well in the past on the Slammy Awards.

3. Ice Train, I mean Big E Langston is Cena’s new opponent.

AJ didn’t get a chance to explain why she turned on Cena as she was interrupted by Vickie, who made a match between she and Cena against AJ and Ziggler. During one of the awards for Best Kiss (which AJ was a nominee in four times), she came out and kissed Ziggler who was the presenter and she did it right in front of Vickie. Ziggler later said he was tired of Vickie, which set up the match.

Earlier in the show, Sheamus knocked out the Big Show and Ziggler ran out to cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase. But Cena briefcase blocked him and stopped him from winning the World Title.

During the match, AJ left and came back with Zeus, I mean Big E. He just walked like Zeus. And he beat up Cena. There wasn’t much heat and I think some of it had to do with Big E’s look. He wore a Mark Henry circa 1998 unitard with a pretty non-menacing hair cut and look. It wasn’t a good debut.

They have a lot of time before the Royal Rumble so they have time to establish some things. And Rock should be back in the next few weeks to start his push for the match with Punk. For a single show, this show was entertaining as Flair wasn’t the only one to come back. The New Age Outlaws, Ricky Steamboat, and Tommy Dreamer also made appearances, but really, they all took a back seat to the Nature Boy. Woooooo!
