Froch/Bute Card Starts To Take Shape – Frampton Chief Support

The undercard for the Super Middleweight title fight between Carl Froch and Lucian Bute is beginning to fall into place with Matchroom Sport announcing several additional bouts for the May 26th bill.

Matchroom Sport:

Carl Frampton will provide the chief support on the undercard of Carl Froch’s IBF World super middleweight title challenge to Lucian Bute in Nottingham on May 26.

The Commonwealth super bantamweight champion will fight at the Capital FM Arena in front of a huge global audience with the event aired by EPIX in the United States and live in more than 20 countries across the world, including the UK, Canada, Spain, Germany, Russia, Japan and in Scandinavia.

Undefeated prospect Frampton (13-0) leads the line up against a yet to be named opponent. Frampton has been chasing a fight with British champion Scott Quigg, but with Quigg opting to defend against former world title challenger Rendall Munroe in June, Team Frampton are eager to secure a big name opponent that will keep him in contention.

Eddie Hearn:

“It’s a great line-up and another chance for Carl Frampton to get massive exposure. “The unbeaten super bantamweight star heads an exciting undercard group alongside Erick Ochieng, Pier Olivier Cote, John Ryder, Ryan Aston and Scotty Cardle, who will provide plenty of entertainment to a global TV audience before the mouth-watering main event.”

Erick Ochieng will be defending his English light middleweight title against local lad AA Lowe. Canada’s Pier Olivier Cote, no stranger to Bute undercards, fights in Britain for the first time against Mark Lloyd. Ryder and Aston are two Matchroom prospects. Ryder is pitted against Yorkshire’s Luke Robinson (8-2-1), while Aston faces veteran banger Paul Samuels. Cardle is a former commonwealth amateur champion, who recently made the switch over. This will be his third pro outing. Local fighters Leigh Wood and Adnan Amar will round out the card with opposition still to be confirmed for those bouts.
