The Ultimate Fighter Season 12 – Team GSP Vs. Team Koscheck Episode 1

GSP says he’s going to be a great babyface and that Koscheck will be a great heel.

The show starts with Dana giving his State of the TUF address and says he wants fighter. They’re bringing back the wildcard too. He tells them to give everything they have in the qualifying fights. The guys are fighting at 155.

Marc Stevens vs. TJ O’Brien

Koscheck knows of Stevens who is a wrestler and says he’s just an ok wrestler.

Stevens threw an overhand right (and I mean overhand) and knocked O’Brien senseless and he finished him with punches on the ground. I’d be surprised if the fight took 20 seconds.

Winner: Marc Stevens by way of 1st round TKO

Spencer Paige vs. Steve Magdaleno

It was a striker vs. striker bout that Paige won mostly because he was able to stay on top and ground and pound him.

Winner: Spencer Paige by way of decision

Nam Phan vs. Mike Budnik

Budnik says he was a pro skater, but he’s also 35.

Budnik almost landed a sweet arm drag takedown. Phan hit Budnik with a body shot that just made him crumble and he finished him on the ground.

Winner: Nam Pham by way of 1st round TKO.

They also showed footage of Jason Brenton and Andy Main. Main won by arm bar.

Ran Wathers fought Jonathon Brookins. Looks like Brookins won a wrestling match.

Toby Grear fought Sako Chivitchian and Sako won by controlling him on the ground with his judo. He also puked after it was over.

Jeffrey Lentz fought Daniel Head and GSP crossed Lentz off his list I think because of his pink hair. Kos told him it’s MMA and you can’t call out anyone. Lentz won with a choke. Lentz says he finishes fights.

Paul Barrow vs. Alex Caceres

Barrow says his nickname is The Wheel. Wheel Barrow. Carceres’ nickname is Bruce Leroy.

Caceres sunk in a choke and fell back with it for the win. Dana really likes him. I didn’t think his stand-up looked good at all, but Dana did.

Winner: Alex Caceres by way of 1st round submission

Pablo Garza fought Michael Johnson. Garza was super tall for the weight, but he got taken down and beat up on the ground. Johnson won by unanimous decision.

Aaron Wilkinson fought Michael Richman and beat him by decision. He’s from the UK.

Joseph Duffy fought Kyle Watson and Watson sunk in a rear naked choke to beat him.

JJ Ambrose fought Sevak Magakian and had a kimura on, but Magakian outlasted him and won the fight.

Cody McKenzie vs. Amir Khillah

McKenzie says he doesn’t have a coach, which doesn’t bode well for him. How perfect of a last name is Khillah for a fighter?

GSP tells Dana that Cody is going to win with a guillotine. And that’s exactly what happened.

Winner: Cody McKenzie by 1st round submission

Dane Sayers vs. Ariel Sexton

Sayers is Native American.

Sayers took a beating early on, but got the fight to the ground and was working a choke before the round ended. It looked like Sexton would put him away in the second, but Sayers sunk in a rear naked choke while on his back and got him to tap.

Winner: Dane Sayers by way of 2nd round submission

Looks like there are shenanigans aplenty during the season, including a visit from Iron Mike Tyson.

  1. I little surprised that Duffy didn’t even make it into the house. He is a young Brit with an undefeated record and a little prospect buzz. Definitely a letdown there.
