2010 WWE Money In The Bank – John Cena Vs. Sheamus

With two Money In The Bank matches, this should be a pretty entertaining PPV, but if they do this every year, I think it will get old. Interestingly enough, I think most people are wondering how the Nexus is involved in the show, even though they’re not in a match.

1. Smackdown Money In The Bank: Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Christian vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Matt Hardy vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Kane vs. The Big Show

Many of these guys were in the MITB match at WrestleMania so they should be pretty comfortable with the pacing and how to time it all out.

They went with comedy to start that match as Big Show tried stepping on a rung of the ladder and it broke. Then he slapped another and it broke. Best spot early was Kofi Kingston going off near the top of the ladder onto McIntyre who was on the announcer’s table.

The Big Show brought out his reinforced ladder and they worked around it. Kofi jumped onto Show and hit a swinging DDT on him, albeit in slow motion. Dashing Cody Rhodes went up to the top rope and drop kicked Kofi off the ladder in another really good spot. Matt Hardy and Christian are the best ladder match workers in the group and they haven’t really been involved all that much.

The chemistry has been off. Dolph and Cody have both looked stupid in spots. Cody sold a punch from Kane about 2 full seconds before it came.

To get Show out of the match, Kane dumped him over the top and everyone threw ladders on him and he couldn’t get up.

Poor Drew McIntyre. He was about to get the briefcase and Kane caught him and threw him off the ladder and Kane is your winner. Kane?

Winner: Kane

This was a pretty sloppy match, but because of the gimmick, it was still pretty good. But it’s probably the worst MITB match of the lot, which isn’t anything to be ashamed of.

2. Eve Torres vs. Alicia Fox

Well, this wasn’t very good. Both girls are athletic so you’d imagine that in a couple months, they can have a decent match. Alicia’s offense wasn’t all that smooth and their timing wasn’t great. Torres fed early to nearly everything. Fox hit a Tilt-A-Whirl back breaker which was cool. Torres came off the top rope with a flip onto Fox, but Fox put her knees up. She’d already worked on Eve’s back. Fox then hit the Booker T axe kick for the win.

Winner: Alicia Fox

3. The Usos vs. The Hart Dynasty

Fun match, but not long enough. The best spot of the match was Tyson rolling up one of the Usos (I still can’t tell them apart) while he tagged his brother and then they put Tyson in the alley-oop Samoan drop, which they called “The Alley-Use (ooos)”. Baby Bulldog went for the sharp shooter and Baby Superfly tried to interfere but was bodyslammed by Baby Anvil. Then Baby Bulldog got Baby Rikishi to tap out after Baby Dynamite Kid made sure the other Baby Rikishi couldn’t interfere.

Winner: The Hart Dynasty

4. Jack Swagger vs. Rey Mysterio

With Kane winning the MITB, I wonder if Swagger gets his title back now. Rey vs. Kane?

They are really making Swagger watch his Kurt Angle tapes. Not only does he have Angle’s submission, but now he also ran to the top rope to catch Rey and suplex him backwards. Cool spot. By the way, if there’s a guy who athletically can be close to Angle, it’s Swagger. I approve.

Another fun match and really, how can Mysterio not have a fun match? He’s the best PPV wrestler going now that Michaels is gone. Swagger threw him around for most of the match and then started to work on his hurt ankle. They stole the Kurt Angle/Eddie Guerrero finish where Rey loosened his boot so that he could push Swagger off and then he rolled him up for the win.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

Swagger attacked Rey after the match and Kane saved him. Kane then cashed in his MITB briefcase.

5. Kane vs. Rey Mysterio

Kane hit Mysterio with a chokeslam and then gave him the Tombstone, even though Rey’s head missed the mat by at least a foot.

Winner: Kane

Michael Cole just said it’s been a decade since Kane won a world championship. ECW? Kane is the champ in 2010. I guess this sets him up against the Undertaker.

6. Kelly Kelly vs. Layla

Two women’s title matches on this card? They sure like buffers.

Now I’ve seen one of the dumber spots in wrestling. Kelly was walking on the side of the apron, outside of the ring. Layla pulled out the drape and Kelly’s leg fell inside of it and supposedly this hurts her.

Kelly has also stolen Melina’s screaming gimmick. Speaking of Melina, isn’t it time for her to come back?

This match was absolute trash and made Eve/Fox look like Steamboat/Flair. Kelly jumped off the top rope for a sunset flip and had Layla almost all the way over, but Layla remembered that she was supposed to sit down on Kelly and it just came off badly.

Winner: Layla

7. Raw Money In The Bank: Randy Orton vs. The Miz vs. Mark Henry vs. Ted DiBiase vs. John Morrison vs. Chris Jericho vs. Evan Bourne vs. Edge

Just based on the workers alone, this has a chance to be one of the best ones ever and decidedly better than the Smackdown one.

Well, I was wrong. The crowd was dead until the last few minutes and all the vets were way safe. I expected the athletic guys like Bourne and Morrison to do some crazy stuff, but they didn’t really. But the last five minutes were good.

The end sequence was well done. Orton hit Morrison with a RKO as Morrison was coming off the ladder and Bourne immediately hit the Air Bourne. Bourne and Jericho were on top of the ladder and it looked like Bourne was going to win. In fact, he looked like a douche bag because he was up there so long by himself. Then Jericho and Edge were on top until Orton hit threw Edge off and hit Jericho with the RKO. Orton was by himself and the crowd finally went crazy. Miz cut him off and grabbed the brief case. We may have our first winner who doesn’t win the championship. I hope he keeps his briefcase for a few months so they can continue to build him up.

Winner: The Miz

8. John Cena vs. Sheamus

The match started out pretty slow. They should’ve used the first woman’s match as a buffer. The fans were dead early on so they worked really slow. It was your normal John Cena match. They did some fun stuff while using the cage to go over the top, but you’ve seen it all before. Nothing really creative.

Cena hit his STF and Sheamus kicked out. Sheamus hit his front kick and his rock bottom into a back breaker for a near fall.

Nexus came down and tried to bring in bolt cutters. Those were taken away. They tried to get the key to open the lock from the outside ref but he threw them into the crowd. Cena had Sheamus in the STFU but the ref was down and he went to go over the top. The Nexus guys stopped him. Then Sheamus went to the other side and only had to evade Heath Slater and won the match.

Winner: Sheamus

Sheamus raced into the crowd and I think most of the Nexus guys followed him. Cena started to beat up the Nexus B-team. He took one of the Nexus wrist bands. I hope he’s not turning heel. I’ve always been against it.

Really good show. I have a feeling we’re seeing this one again next year.
