Jardine Cut From UFC

F4W is reporting that Keith Jardine was released from his UFC contract after losing to Matt Hamill on last weekend’s Ultimate Fighter Finale.

It may be time for Jardine to consider an exit strategy from the fight business. He’s racked up four back to back losses, and taken a ton of punishment in the process. Even prior to that current string of defeats, he had suffered some pretty devastating KO’s at the hands of Wanderlei Silva and Houston Alexander. His punch resistance is clearly deteriorating, and he’s really struggled when pressured in recent fights.

Keith seems like a genuinely good guy, but I don’t know how much money there is to be made outside of UFC for him. He’s had some big nights over the course of his career, but it’s difficult to see how he can turn the ship around at this point. The timing might be right for him to move on to other things.

  1. Strikeforce is looking for someone to fight King Mo in August.

  2. I think I would favour King Mo fairly heavily in that one.

And I think Mousassi would absolutely obliterate him.

  3. Agreed on both accounts. Jardine may survive a round against King Mo—I think Mousasi would finish him within the first due to his striking ability.

    But Strikeforce needs bodies.

  4. I know a lot of people are frustrated with this decision, but I’m not. The UFC gave Jardine every possible chance to get back on the winning side. The only issue I have is that he was cut in a fight that was pretty competitive and some people had him winning.

However, if he faced anyone with any sort of technical boxing skill, he’d have been knocked out. In a way, it was good that he was fighting Hamill whose punches you can see coming from a mile away.
