Fedor’s Next Opponent Announced
F4Wonline is reporting that Fedor will return to StrikeForce on June 26th for a match with former UFC and PRIDE star Fabricio Werdum.
Werdum (13-4-1) has wins over Brandon Vera, Gabriel Gonzaga, Alistair Overeem, and Fedor’s brother Aleksander Emelianenko. He is coming off a decision victory over Antonio Silva in his last outing back in November.
If they are holding off on doing Overeem/Fedor for the moment, this is probably the best possible alternate. Werdum’s a real guy at heavyweight. He did get knocked out by Junior dos Santos at UFC 90, but aside from that he’s been in pretty good form lately. This is not someone who should be overlooked.
Just don’t see him posing much of a threat to Fedor.
I don’t know how much buzz there will be around this, but I am glad that I will finally see Fedor live.
