Former WWE Star Umaga Has Passed

Earlier today, Bobby Lashley posted a twitter message that said:

Very sad day today. A good friend is gone.

While that may have been slightly premature based on the time that it was posted, what isn’t now premature is that his one time WrestleMania main event competitor Umaga, has passed.

Dave Meltzer from The Wrestling Observer wrote that Edward Fatu (Umaga’s real name) was rushed to the hospital by his wife after she found him not breathing and with blood coming out of his nose. He also said that family members have been told that he suffered a heart attack and that they needed to come to the hospital in Houston quickly.

Wrestling fans on the Internet were speculating that he had passed away at different points in the day, but he was holding on strong until about 6PM Eastern. He passed away after having a second heart attack in the hospital

Umaga is best remembered for his run in WWE in feuds with Triple H, John Cena, and Bobby Lashley in the match where Vince McMahon’s and Donald Trump’s hair was on the line. He also worked as a part of Eric Bischoff’s tag team 3-Minute Warning in WWE as well.
He was most recently wrestling in Australia for Hulk Hogan’s tour.

We would to send our condolences to his friends and family.

Thanks to AngryMarks and The Wrestling Observer for details.
