Aftermath – UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort
Well better late than never.
UFC 103 was an unusual card with some unusual circumstances. It achieved in showing us that guys like Paul Daley and Vitor Belfort can have big fights in the UFC and that guys like Frank Trigg and Mirko CroCop may have to hang it up. You can hear me and GG break it down even more detailed on last weekend’s edition of FGB Radio. Lets see what the FGB crew of titans had to say…

Best Fight: Story/Foster
Worst Fight: Franklin/Belfort
There really wasn’t anything terrible on the card so I picked Franklin/Belfort as worst only because there was a complete lack of engagement and then one flurry by Belfort to end it. Rich was obviously finished, but the KO won’t make any highlight reels. There also wasn’t one fight in my mind that really stood head and shoulders above the rest. Daley was impressive in his win and I think despite some charges of early stoppage that the end was imminent and the outcome would have been unchanged. Koscheck looked good in his win, as did Griffin and Dos Santos. Overall, a fun card with lots of fights and lots of finishes.

Best Fight: Tyson Griffin vs. Hermes Franca
Worst Fight: Emerson vs. Leg kicker man
Emerson’s fight was hard to watch, I was just screaming STOP KICKING HIM at Duans TV! Fun show overall. Lots of exciting (short) fights.

Thumbs in the middle
Best Fight: Tyson Griffin vs. Hermes Franca
Worst Fight: Rich Franklin vs. Vitor Belfort
I watched this on delay after first watching the Mayweather/Marquez live and let’s just say I made the right decision. This show definitely felt like a secondary show compared to the fight. The main event was a near farce because of how quickly Franklin went down. I also think Vitor was allowed to get in two shots to the back of the head, and I’m not saying you can do anything about it, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. I’m a big disappointed in Mirko Cro Cop, even though I expected him to win, and I’m also disappointed in how easily Frank Trigg went down. But big props to Josh Koscheck, Paul Daley, and Junior Dos Santos for stepping up large.
Alright, we’ll see you guys at UFC 104!
Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort set for 108 according to MMA Frenzy. I find this to be some b.s.
I hope they schedule Henderson-Marquardt at the same event.
