UFC 102 Conference Call Notes

Very little news came out of the UFC 102 conference call. Both Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira were on the call taking questions from the media members. What’s interesting (or maybe not if you feel the same way) is that there were more than a couple of questions relating to both men possibly retiring. Couture had his usual stance of that he takes his fights one by one and as long as he still enjoys training and the competition, he’s going to keep on fighting. Nog was specifically asked if he was starting a retirement tour with one last shot at the championship. He said no and that he definitely has a few fights left in him.

When asked about Fedor Emelianenko, Couture said he wasted 13 months trying to fight Fedor and says if it happens, it will happen in the UFC. He also said he thought that in a couple years, Fedor would be in UFC and he hoped he’d still be around to face him. They discussed a little bit about his current divorce with Kim, which he basically said was a much easier divorce to go through.

Big Nog mentioned that his brother was going to be fighting in the UFC soon. Both guys also talked about the respect they had for each other and how they weren’t looking forward to a possible big pay day against Brock Lesnar.
