Kurt Angle Arrested; Possibly Could Miss TNA Pay-Per-View
With a lot of combat sports’ eyes focused on tonight’s Strikeforce show, headlined by Gina Carano vs. Cris Cyborg for the first ever major league Women’s MMA World Title (we will have full LIVE coverage of this show tonight), this story may be slept-on by many until tomorrow.
According to a criminal report filed in Pittsburgh today, current TNA World Heavyweight Champion, 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist and former WWE World Champion Kurt Angle has been arrested by the Robinson Township Police Department and is currently in the Allegheny County Jail.
The story was broken by Mike Johnson earlier today, but I decided to do a bit more digging and found some extra details. Apparently there was some kind physical altercation at Kurt’s house involving him and current girlfriend Trenesha Biggers, known to most as TNA’s Rhaka Khan. Shortly afterwards, she went to the police and filed an order of protection from abuse against Kurt. The cops came shortly after and removed Angle from the home this morning.
That wasn’t the end of it.
Sometime after 8 in the morning, Trenesha called the police again stating this time that Kurt followed her to a local Starbucks and that she felt like she was being stalked. She told authorities that Kurt, seemingly out of control, had been circling the Starbucks parking lot, deleting “abusive” photographs from Trenesha’s cell phone which he swiped.
The authorities arrived on the scene and Kurt was immediately questioned. The cops were suspicious that Kurt may have been driving under the influence, so they searched his vehicle and found two capped syringes and two vials of Human Growth Hormone. Angle claimed he had a prescription for the HGH and could supply it to the authorities.
Angle was arrested and charges with Driving with a Suspended License (which stemmed from the DUI incident last year when Kurt refused to take a breathalyzer, which is an automatic suspension in the state of Pennsylvania), Posession (HGH), Harassment, and Breaking an Order of Protection.
Johnson also stated that tonight on the Pittsburg evening news, the story will be focused upon and we may get more information.
Angle is STILL scheduled to defend the TNA World Title tomorrow night at Hard Justice in Orlando, Florida against Matt Morgan and Sting in a 3-way Dance. One source stated that because it is a weekend arrest, he heard Kurt was going to be held in jail and not see a judge until Monday, which really puts his appearance at the TNA PPV in jeopardy.
