The Ultimate Fighter Season 8 Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir – Episode 12

They tease that Junie goes on another freak out and Dana has to decide whether to let him fight or kick him out.

The first fight is Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Vinny Magalhaes. Krzysztof says that you punch a black belt in the face, he becomes a brown belt.

Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Vinny Magalhaes

After getting hit in the face, Vinny pulled guard and pulled Soszynski down with him. Then he pulled his foot behind his head and trapped him there while laying in elbows. Soszynski threw about 5 unanswered leg kicks. Vinny was trying to go to the ground at every opportunity and pull guard. Vinny caught him and arm barred him quick for the victory.

Winner: Vinny Magalhaes by way of 1st round submission

Junie seems to be having trouble with getting caught in practice. He says that it’s his training and he doesn’t want to lose on national TV. He’s trying to get Shane to fight for him instead. Mir says that Junie is not mentally ready for the pressures of fighting in the UFC.

Junie and Vinny were talking about Bader and Shane Primm was sticking up for Bader. Out of no where, Junie threw a glass at Primm and took a shot at him as well and had to be restrained. It was like maniacal behavior.

Dana comes in and just motions for Junie to talk with him. He says he can’t figure out if he’s retarded, bipolar, or just is afraid of failure. What if he’s just an asshole? Dana says he’s afraid of failing and wants to take the easy way out. Dana says he can’t reward a guy who acts like Junie does. He’s going to talk to the other fighters. He thinks they’ll want him to stay so someone can kick his ass.

Dana says it’s not like Survivor and you can vote him off, he said you want to beat him off. And then he said, “That didn’t sound good did it?” Efrain wants him in the cage. Junie is allowed to continue.

Junie says that if he can’t beat Efrain he might not fight ever again because if he can’t beat him, he won’t beat anyone in the UFC. But afer that, he says that he can beat Efrain even if he hadn’t trained. At least he didn’t have trouble making weight this time.

Junie Browning vs. Efrain Escudero

There wasn’t much to the first round. Efrain got one takedown. They were both scared to throw strikes for some reason. The best punch of the round was a counter right hand from Efrain. There were some leg kicks, but no real combinations. Efrain probably won the round slightly.

Mir kept calling for Junie to throw three strikes in a row, but he never did. Efrain finally went for a takedown and got it easily. Junie didn’t really fight it. Efrain got the D’Arce locked in and Junie tapped.

Winner: Efrain Escudero by way of 2nd round submission

Mir says that Junie allowed himself to get tapped out so he could get out of there. Junie says he’s done and is in the wrong sport.

Big Nog and Mir had a bet that caused him to get his hair cut off. It wasn’t really explained.

Junie then says that he’s definitely going to fight again even though we probably want him gone.

Next Saturday, December 13 is the finale.

It’s Vinny against Bader and Phillipe against Efrain. I’ll have play by play of that show here on this site.
